Shaft for 3 wood

A swipe at your 'low' swing speed?  Why would  you take offence?  It wasn't a swipe at all, the fact is its the modern ball that is the problem and you are totally wrong, the extra 1.5 degree will make the world of difference.  A 4 wood will get the ball up at 16.5 degrees a lot easier than an 3 wood, due to a modern balls low spinning launch.  As for torque, anything between 2 and 5 will play identically, and you woon't feel any difference. Its not very long ago Jack Nicklaus won the Masters with graphite with torque over 10.

Loft contributes 80% of the height your ball will go, you cannot get away from that fact, despite being overly ensitive about your swing speed!. You either need to swing faster or use more loft, twiddling with shafts will make little or no difference, although a softer shafter or softer ball may help, a BIT, but not much.

Its your money, spend it how you want.  Pure forged and myself disagree on this one, he believes shafts can add upto 10 degrees of loft, I have pointed out Tom Wishon and Tim Hewitt have tested this many times and forund shaft deflection to add no more than 2 degrees, at the extreme. You make your own mind up.  I haven't got a website thought have I?

Loft adds height, shafts help control it.  Over and out, the guy with the shop getts lots of thanks and nice smilies, and you seem ready and willing to gratefully accept his offer  (no offence to PF at all, he has behaved impeccably, I just hatve  difference of opinion on shaft deflection) but another guy who can't offer a deal  gets a derisory arguementative and dissmisive post from you.  So next time, why ask for advice?  Why not just say up front you only want to here from someone that can sell you something?

More height=loft

I don't agree with a lot of the points you have made and as for your implying that I only go along with purforged because he is offering something that is quite pathetic as is your suggestion that my comment is derisory, arguementative and dissmissive.

Well thats how it came across, I made no swipe at all towards your swing speed, yet somehow you managed to take it that way, for no reason whatsoever.  Your swing speed and lack of loft is causing the ball to stay low,  which is all I have said, so what are these 'other' points you don't agree with? I haven't said anything else and how on earth you took that as a swipe is beyond me, if you are that sensitive maybe you should PM the sponsors of the site and ask them personally.

You need more loft, or more swing speed, which is plain and simple advice, which you asked for in your first post. But you seem intent on buying a new shaft which is fine by me, its your money.

Absolutely.

Wormburner

I don't believe I was trying to sell anything?

I offered a pulled softer-tip shaft free of charge, which can hopefully solve his problem.

You seem to have a problem with any one who disagrees with you.

It was clear Samsung didn't want any advice once he heard he just needed a new shaft,.  We disagree, you say he does, I say he probably doesn't, he probably needs more loft.  Loft is 80% of launch angle. I only have a problem with being told I was having a pop at low swing speed, which is ridiculous, there is nothign to suggest that, so its in his own head. He has made his mind up, its no skin of my nose.  I said earlier I wasn't having a go, and yes, its only a pull, so apologies for the inference on your part  (to be fair I did say that in the previous post).  I won't bother offering him any more advice.

Once again we disagree.

I never said he needed a new shaft, if you read the thread properly he said he had acquired a second hand 3-wood head and was after a shaft to put in it.  He obviously didn't want to go out and buy another head as you suggested.  The point of his thread was to get suggestions for a reasonable shaft to put in this head, not to be told he needed a 4-wood instead.

I merely offered him a free second hand shaft which fulfilled the whole purpose of this thread.  What that has to do with me having a website I have no idea.

Best bit of news I've had since shooting 6 under yesterday (without a 3 wood!!!)

Not bad for 76 years old - with a slow swing speed.

Apologies to all, just good banter.

"What that has to do with me having a website I have no idea"

exactly, about the same as having a swipe at swing speed then.

He needs more loft, thats the point of suggesting he needs a 4 wood.  If he is 76 then it seems pretty obvious to me that a 15 degree 3 wood may be to much, regardless of shaft, on that we seem to disgagree.

ps  "what this has to do with me having a website"

Well, I have avoided saying this for a while, but you have yet again linked your website into a thread, are you a paying advertsiser to this site?  If so then fine, if not, then you are breaking the AUG. The paying advertisers I am sure will be  little miffed to see a seller openly advertising for free.  I can't see you on the retailer list on the right, so if you don't want to infer anything, then perhaps you shouldn't link your website into threads.

This is my last post, I give up!  You obviously can't read or read into things what you want to.
