 I know a lot of guys will only tee up with a ball if it has Titleist written on it and that is understandable, as they have been at the top of the market for years. I like Pro V's obviously - but find them expensive. However, the new year is underway with The Vale Seniors section and in the Monday competition, as well as a bit of crystal for the winner, there are balls distributed for the top five in each of the two divisions 0 -16, & 16 -28. These balls were previously logoed Ultra's or some such equivalent nasty ball. This year they are logoed NXT Tours - result! As I have been in the frame a couple of weeks I am begining to aquire a few of these (got two for a third place 38 points yesterday) and they play very well indeed. I will point out though that the ball I play to get in the frame, is still an Inesis Tour TD ...and I still haven't lost many of 'em.

 Totally agree Taz. I only play NXT Tours now. I get better distance and more spin, particularly on long shots, than Pro V1's.

Why not!!! I honestly get better performance with an NXT Tour than a Pro V1. Maybe its just my swing but why pay more for a "premium" ball when it hurts my game?

I think it depends on swing speed and standard of play. It is all very well extolling the virtues of a ball that is designed to work, at its best, in the hands of a 130mph swingspeed pro - but for the guy that can only muster mid nineties, then that ball is totally inappropriate, despite the hype. A couple of big hitters (Dan & Dunc) on this site have tested the Inesis and found that it doesn't work for them - reason - probably because it works brilliantly for average swing speed guys like me. I think maybe the NXT is that sort of alternative to the Pro V. The best equipment out there (for pro's) ain't necessarily the best equipment out there for the rest of us. ......... but for some reason, be it course cred. or a trumped up estimate of ones ability - some guys will insist on using the wrong stuff - for them.

I bought the NXTs for general winter play and the Pro Vs for when the proper stuff starts--
I can get the pro v to stop much quicker than the NXT Tour and get a much better trajectory off the tee with it.
So a mug like me can tell the difference!

Taz, I agree in the most part with what you say, but I play of 10 and know what works for me and the NXT Tour gives me more distance, a better flight and more spin - even on chips and pitches. FOR ME, the Pro V1 is what people think they should play, not what they should play!!!

Taz, I don't have a majorly fast swing but I can stop a ProV1 consistantly - I cannot stop an NXT consistantly unless the greens are very wet - I'm Very surprised that anyone could find they get more stop from an NXT than a ProV1 - just my opinion. If people are weighing up value for money as opposed to raw performance then that's a different matter...

 On the same line, I actually subscribed to Golf Punk before Xmas - the main reason was I end up buying too many golf magazines every month so I thought I'd get something for free. Went for GP because it came with 12 Srixon Z-URS (I think that's what they are) and they arrived last week. I really like the Srixon AD333 but the Z-URS definitely spin less off the driver (my slice was more of a fade!) and stop quicker on the greens.

 I prefer a harder ball, I've tried the pro v1's and tp black but I keep going back to the AD333 and NXT. I have a high swing speed and I prefer the feeling of the harder ball, feels more like your hitting something. No problem with greens as I seem to get enough spin with my wedges. I guess it's the same as clubs, we all suit something different and you have to try plenty to get the right fit.

Like Taz I have been using the TD Tours quite a bit over the winter and it's difficult to fault them, I also had a dozen of the new NXT Tour free withmy GW subscription. I agree the trajectory is pretty good with the NXT Tour but where it just did not work for me is where we really score, on putting, chipping, pitching and partial wedges where I found there was no feel and control. The NXT Tour was a few yards longer with the driver than the Inesis but not as straight. Sold them on flea bay. I have now stocked up on PRO V1's for the season and I am definaetly starting to see the benefits, last week scored my first sub 80 round and a short course but with very diffcult and fast greens. If you dont think PRO V1 are for you to e honest I think the TD Tour at £8-10 less than NXT Tours is a better deal. On the other hand don't not use PRO V1's because of the price, if you are patient and search carefully you can get new ones for £25 a dozen and there are a lot of people selling lost and found pearl or mint for around £15.00. I dont think it matters how good or fast your swing is anyone can benefit from a premium ball in the short game.
