I have a PING G5 10.5 degree with std regular flex shaft. I hit this well but sometimes towards the end of the round it can get a little wayward? this maybe due to my swing getting faster.
Went to AGD today and tried the G10 in regular and stiff, the guy there recommended stiff shaft as swing speed was 100 - 105 mph and carry was about 270yds.
Not sure now whether to reshaft my G5? how much would this cost?
or sell the G5 on ebay - how much do these fetch? it's in excellent condition. and try and buy another G5 or G2 with a stiff shaft for the same money
I wouldnt worry about whether your Ping driver says reg or stiff flex, it wont make much difference and you certainly wont overpower the reg flex with that swing speed, although you may get slightly better dispersion with a stiff flex driver at the sacrifice of a couple of yards.
AGD are there to flog you stuff. Walk in with a reg flex and they'll recommend a stiffy. Walk in with a stiffy and they'll recommend a reg flex.
Oh, and no golfer on the planet is gonna carry the ball 270yds with 100mph of SS. It just aint possible in neutral environmental conditions, but then AGD launch monitors are setup with a hurricaine force wind behind to flatter the customer.
Keep the driver you have. Your waywardness at the end of the round is due to fatigue.
Well I just got G5 driver second hand got it for 95 pound in tip top condition. Got a really good deal not skied or any marks. It has been hit on the crown a little but it has not taken paint off. Reg Flex too. I tried the G10 and I just did not like it at all. 5 month before that I tried the G5 3W and G10 3W and preferred the G5 again so I dont like the G10 woods compared to G5's. Dont know why
