Just needed some opinions  on using so called more foregiving irons why do players pick a design of club e.g. blade or semi blades which are traditionally more difficult to use ? Even if you get into single handicap category why use a more difficult club to use ?although  a more bladed design gives more feel why make the game harder by using these clubs when you can get a bigger far more foregiving headed design and make the game easier with more striking consistency. What gave me these thoughts was that  I had  a few shots with my partners very foregiving set and and although I play off 9 these were so much easier to hit the heads were much bigger and gave lots of confidence.

Why make a hard game even harder? Masculine pride would be hurt for some to use blobby heads

There's a zillion threads here ad on other golf forums about the never ending debate of Blades v CB's v GI irons. Each have their fans. Each have their reasons and justifications.

I'm of the school of trying to make a very difficult game as easy as I can and while a cavity in the back of an iron doesnt transform the game from tough to easy, every little helps, and those little helping bits can sure pay off.

To me, the classic test is hitting 25 iron shots with a blade then a CB, for most golfers the shot dispersion will be better with the CB.
