Hello everyone. I have just started this compelling game of golf at the tender age of 45.! I have just bought the Wilson Fatshaft iv`S and would like any comments on these clubs. Any thoughts on which woods\drivers would  complement this set,  cheers.

My thoughts are to avoin the matching woods,go for somethig like MD Golf or Benross much better quality at a very sensible price as well.My recommendations would be as follows

Ben Sayers Benny driver, Benross VeloCT driver, MD Superstrong Eql Driver. All these have matching 3 wood which are quality as well, prob best to stick in a 21 degree hybrid as well and ditch the 3 iron. All  the above companies do very good hybrids.

Don't ignore the older models of driver either - it really depends on how much you're willing to spend and if you have to have hte latest thing. I bought the Nike SUMO2 (despite the horrible noise ) because I liked it and it works for me. However I also like the Benross V5 driver (which are selling for about £60. The best thing to do is to get down to a proshop or decent golf retailer (Direct golf have always been good for me, but not everyone's cup of tea!) and try some out! Also most decent pro-shops have second hand drivers which offer top quality for a lower price.

Thanks for the replys. Think i will go to the local driving range ( which has a pro shop) and try some drivers out. The " Fatshafts" only came in 4-sw but would like a 3 iron with them, as i used this with my old set and found it ok. Can i find one, NO. Not even sure they make one. Anybody know of any web-sites. Tne "Fatshafts" are not even listed on the Wilson web-site.? Cheers...

If you can't find one you can replace it with a utility club (20/21 degree I think!?!)

I'd agree with Bunkerboy, as 3 irons can be very difficult to hit.

My favourite utility club is the Mizuno fli-hi CLK (American Golf have them for £89), but there's loads out there to chose from. Just make sure you try before you buy.

To answer your question on Fatshafts, I know a couple of  people who have them and rate them highly, and I had a driver which was also a decent club. I'd say you made a good choice.

Just had a round with the "Fatshafts". Previous two scores where 111 with dunlop clubs. This time i got the score down to 101. The clubs are so much easier to use. More balanced and more consistant. Bought a Slazenger 24 degree stainless gap wood which works very well. Might get the 18 degree to go with it. All in all, £120 well spent on the Fatshafts, well pleased.
