I have just got a 2 ball putter from ebay.  It is the original white hot version.  It has a serial number and bar code, but it has some lines down the shaft is this correct?

If you mean a series of long indents round the shaft the yes as My 2005 DFX has these also

I think its to filter out any vibrations from ball impact or so I've been told?

Nah it sounds like same dents as my proper DFX they did silly things with putter in the early 2000's before going back to sensibly/classic stuff lately
