Hi

I ve played golf on and off for a few years. 1 have a set of callaway x14 4-pw

im now looking at getting a wedge.

i ve have narrowed the search down to the mizuno mp t black nickel or raw haze

i ve been offered a really good deal on 3 different clubs.

A 56degree 13 degree bounce mp t black nickel wedge

and a 58 degree 10 degree bounce mp t black nickel wedge

or a 56 degree 13 degree bounce mizuno raw haze wedge

would like to know which people think would be best.

Also they all have stiff shafts.wanted to know if this would be okay because they are not regular. I also will not be able to test them before hand

cheers

A 56 would be better as the PW in your set is likely to be about 47/48 deg (check Callaway website archive section for specs) so that there is not too much of a gap.

Unless you play where the bunkers have hard, compacted sand where the 58 with 10 deg bounce would be better.

Finish is to your preference I suppose, not sure about stiff shaft although a sand wedge with stiff shaft may be less critical than a driver etc.

If they are cheap enough its worth a try.

I have the MP-T 58.10 Black Nickel. Lovely balanced club - and I personally think the more aesthetically pleasing finish of the two. But if I didn't have an alternative Sand Wedge, I'd get the 56.13. Both are steals at that price.

BTW, most wedges have stiff shafts, and many manufacturers only offer "wedge flex" which is firm to stiff. However, since you seldom give them a full swing it shouldn't matter too much.

Hi David,

I got hold of two raw haze wedges last month 53* and 58* for £29.99. The rusted effect has not had time to develop yet but the feel from the forged heads is great.

At that price either club is a bargain.

I also have the raw haze mizzies. Mine have developped the rust a little and they are the best clubs in y bag!

got my black nickel yesterday and had a quick round. awesome. Not sure if it was just confidence but hit the pin twice pitching onto the green with my new wedge and holed one from off the green.Cant wait for my next round.

I also bought two of the raw haze wedges 53* and 58*. The 58 is an excellent sand iron but damn difficult to handle off a tight lie. The 53* is as effective as my chrome 52* MX25 wedge and they now complete my 'spare' bag of so-so clubs.

Why?

I hate the rusty finish - horrible - looks already like a piece of tat found on a scrapheap and I bet the edge on the grooves has already rusted away. I reckon they will last no time at all before becoming worn and useless.

Give me satin chrome every time - I'm not good enough to notice any performance difference.

I agree - I've just ordered two Mizuno R series at 52 and 56. The Black nickel looks good new, but tatty once rusted. Good old chrome for me
