OK, deep breath, here's what I have. The Wilson clubs from the 3w hybrid upto the SW were a boxed set released late 2007. The LW was a separate purchase but the same design.
1W 9deg Ping G10 with UST V2 High launch shaft. 3W 15.5deg Ping G10 with UST V2 High launch shaft. Wilson Deep Red hybrid 3i & 4i 5,6,7,8,9i Wilson Deep Red Steel shafts. Cavity Back Wilson Deep Red PW (45deg), SW (56) and LW (60deg) . Blade design TM Monza Spider Putter.
So that's 13 clubs. I'm allowed 1 more, so I should maximise my allowance right? I'm thinking a 5w or maybe one of Ping's Hybrids to close the gap between the woods and the irons.
a 50deg wedge maybe? It would sit between the 45 and 56/
Or one of those chipping putters? Although I just use a 5i and grip lower at the moment
There's a massive gap between your 45 deg wedge which is really a 9 iron and nearer an old 8 iron and your 56 sw. How far do you hit your pw as opposed to your sw? I would presume 130-140 and your sw 80-90 so you have a yardage gap of some 40-60yds to bridge with one of the more important clubs in your bag IMO. Chippers are a wast of time, also IMO, if you can use your other clubs to the same effect but are more versitile.
Thers's also a big gap between your 3w and 3I hybrid but not as important to bridge.
Another vote for a gap wedge, 50/51 degrees. I'm amazed they didn't include such a useful club a hundred years or so ago when the standard set makeup was being formed.
Oh, wait a minute, they did - but it was called a Pitching Wedge!
hi carlo- how do you find the v2 high launch performs in your g10 driver? is it a 65g one? i only ask as i am thinking of putting one in my g5 driver but dont know anyone who plays this shaft. any feedback would be appreciated.
I bascally use my PW as a 9 iron, as I use it from 120 yards and to chip and run with. The GW gives you a lot more options around the greens. My SW goes about 80 yards and the gap between 80 and 120 would be too much for me. In fact my GW is probably my favourite club and I do, on shorter par 4s, lay up to 100 yards out, just so I can use my GW.
I do have a gap between my 3 wood and my utility club, but don't usually find that a problem. If I did, I'd consider getting rid of my 4 iron and getting either a 5 wood or a 19 deg utility maybe.
Also, another consideration is bounce. I find with the 3 wedges and my PW that I have all degrees of bounce covered, so it gives me a better option around the green. So if I'm in a fluffy lie, then I might use my SW, but if it's a tight lie, I'd use my LW or GW depending on what I was trying to do.

66g on the driver (9deg), 76g on the 3w (15.5deg). Both stiff flex.
They do put the ball high, almost too high. With a 9deg driver it's still up in the sky. Plenty of air time, not a lot of roll (maybe this'll change when summer picks up and the ground gets a bit harder?), so I don't know how that'll suit your style.
I'm supremely pleased with it all in all. But if you're putting it onto an existing club head, I'd look long and hard at your loft and ask yourself if you want it to go higher. It absolutely adds height to your launch. If I had anything but the lowest loft on my driver head, it would be too high for me.
I tried all sorts on the launch monitor back in Nov, and the g10 with this shaft was the straightest, and furthest driver for me.
Another vote for the gap wedge. I play TaylorMades and the PW is 45deg. I have 51 and 55deg SMT Durometer wedges and the 51deg is certainly the best addition I have made to my bag recently. Before, there was a large gap between my PW and SW which meant I either had to swing easy with the PW, or lace the SW when in between my comfortable distances. Now I can have a more controlled full swing when around 100 - 110yds out.
thanks for the feedback carlo, i do hit the ball too low at times so i reckon this shaft should do i hope. i tend to hit the ball low anyway, must be my swing, so i guess its time for a change. i contacted proforce who gave me good feeedback as well. i also have the high launch in my g10 3w but i dont seem to hit that club too high thats why i chose the v2 hl 65r. i will let you know how i get on next week with it.
back to your original thread- i use a 47 deg pw and a 54 deg sw. i added a 51 deg gw recently and find it a good in between wedge. i find it stops you having to lay off the pw or force the sw.
