Taking a base level of a couple of seasons of golf practice, suitable golf equipment (cavity back irons, sensible lofted woods...etc..) and a few lessons, then I would say that golf is at least a 75% mental game. I play so much better if I can relax, concentrate and play my game.

Joe, your comment about improving your short game from 150yards in gave me a smile. That's my long game...! eek.

I call my short game from 50yards around the green, cos inevitably I'm either short or to either side of the pin by up to 50yards. Luckily my short game is one of my strengths, which compensates my lack of distance. The short game is definitely the best way to knock shots off your round.
