I am looking for a titanium driver to add to my taylor made irons. I totally agree with the statements and rumours that the drivers are the same as 3 years ago (maybe less the superquad with wieights added) Now I am after filling my unbought bag asap and for not as cheap as possible, but, finding the best bargain as possible. I have been looking at the Taylor Made 5 series ies 510 580 but dont know what the difference with them is, also the big bertha but as to being out the game for so long, I don't know what was hot 3 year ago ! Any help and links to bargains appreciated.

RBH If you go for the TM580, make sure it's the legal version (has 3 horizontal grroves at the centre of the face). This is still a very good club and you can probably get for less than £50 on Ebay.

is this the illegal version ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Taylor-Made-R-580-XD-Grafalloy-Blue-Driver-9-5_W0QQitemZ230257313064QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230257313064&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

RBH - that link you've posted - the TM580 is the illegal version - no grooves across the midle of the face. (it's a great club and I still shed a tear for mine that's sat against the wall in the spare room! )

There's a guy on ebay called escgolf i seem to recall, he usually offers driver with buy it now or best offer, quite reasonable too
|
 |
kef, thats the bloke i have just been looking at ! very reasonable prices. I do want a superquad however wouldnt risk buying one on ebay due to the fakes going around !

This R360 Ti is cheap. I have roughly the same driver and I hit like a legend (no really, but that's me rather than the club!)

Hi Tiger Chris, I think the R360 is now illegal for use in competition. Fine if you only want to use it for social golf, but you could be DQ'd if you play in a comp and someone spots it. Here's the link to the list of non-conforiming drivers on the R & A website. R & A list of non-conforming drivers That's proabably why it's so cheap. TM also did a 360Ti, which was pretty much the same but does conform to the new regs.

Ping never made an 'illegal' driver So look out for the Si3 380 or G2, both are superb drivers and as good as anything about at the moment.

Titleist 905T or 905R, great clubs. I have had both (still using the 905R). I had both with the Graphite Design YS-6 shaft, seems excellent to me. Also tried the 905R with the green Aldila (NV-S?) which I hated.

Checked my driver, it's the 320 Ti, not the R320 Ti. I am in luck. When I come 400th in the next comp I enter, at least my driver will be legal

haha, well i bought a Great Big Bertha. One of the oldest ones. Got it on ebay for £31. It'll do me for now!

I have an R7 HT which I think must be 3 years old or more. It hits 300+yards (270-80 carry) with my swing measuring a club head speed at around 110mph. I slow up for the driver a little because the shaft is an Aldila NU 55r which is not stiff enough for such speeds, leaving the face al little open on full on shots. but with a gentle swing and 260 yards up, its a peach of a club and while I can hit modern clubs harder, it does the same job only being slight more demanding of accuracy. 60 quid well spent.
