i'm guilty of leaving my sodden wet golf shoes in the boot of the car for two whole days in really hot temps and direct sunlight

my shoes now stink to high heaven and i can't get rid of the smell. i don't want to put them in the wash as that'll destroy them, so, anyone got any top tips for "freshning" up my shoes?

Cut a hole in the end of your shoes to create a "peep toe" effect. Not only will this allow the disgusting smells caused by your laziness to escape but you'll also be the talk of the clubhouse with your cutting edge, if slightly gay, fashion statement.

You're welcome.

There's nothing wrong with washing your shoes inside and out so long as you let them dry out stuffing with news paper, etc. Give a good coat whilst wet of nikwax (or similar waterproofer) and polish / dubbin when dry.

And don't leave wet shoes in the car.....

Dry in the airing cupboard and then coat with the missus expensive perfume. At least when she finds out you wont get told off for stinking the airing cupboard out or knackering your shoes, just for wasting her perfume!!

As topslice says, wash them inside and out in warm soapy water, stuff with newspaper and leave to dry. However do not put them near a heat source to dry, this will cause them to crack. Once dry be very generous with the polish.

advice as everyone else has said, also in future invest in a set of cedar shoe tree's. Help keep the shoe's shape, soak up moisture and also smell............
