Can't get enough of this wonderful game ? Fed up of spending over £3 for a magazine full of adverts ?Why not look at spending time reading something much more fulfilling than the average golf magazine.

I have read quite a few golf books (yes I can read !!) and in particular I would recommend you read two books by John Feinstein, "A Good Walk Spoiled" and "The Majors". These books give a great behind the scenes look at the goings on of the PGA tour.

I have also just started reading "Winning the Open" by Norman Dabell, which is a book following the exploits of the caddies on the bags of Open Champions such as Tiger,Seve & Nick Faldo to name a few.

I have found these books give you a sense of knowing the players better and makes following them on the TV more enjoyable...especially the true John Daly story !

So get down to your local bookstore or get online at Amazon (before they go under) !!

Steve, does the book "Winning the Open" offer any sort of money back guarantee if you don't?
But seriously though, this sounds like top advice - as you say, in a book, you're going to get a much deeper insight into the game and the players than from a magazine.
Having said that, I probably need a whole library to sort out my mental game!

Alex, you will not find an answer to solving your mental game from these books but they can put things into perspective. Like describing what it is like for Messrs Couples, Duval and Furyk to make it through Q-school for the PGA Tour way before they became famous.

If they can play under that much pressure I'm sure us mortals can handle our first tee shots in the monthly medal !!

I could highly recommend any of the Bob Rotella books too...
