I have a set of Ping BeCu ISI's that I purchased in 1996. Love the set up and feel and have never been to duplicate this with other sticks I have tried. What I ended up doing is going to The Complete Golfer in White Plains, N.Y. For $100.00 they did an analysis of the clubs' performance with my swing. Then did a comparision with me using various other clubs and shafts with my swing.  The Complete Golfer is what I would describe as a club diagnostic center. The machinery and technology utilized to measure every aspect of the clubs and perfromance were amazing. They checked lofts, swing weights, swing speed, trajectory, ball spin, shaft weight and lengths. I learned my 1996 clubs were way too heavy, the shafts far to stiff for my 2008 swing speed, did not have consistant swing weights and not one loft matched Ping's loft degree specs. BTW, this is not uncommon with other manufacturers as well.
I got the lofts bent to the correct degrees and trajectories, had new Nippon R light weight steel shafts put on that were 25 grams lighter and new Golf Pride grips that were also lighter and trued up the swing weights. This cost me about $385.
It's like having new irons. Just fantastic. The best part is that I kept the ISI copper heads that I didn't want to give up. Just a great experience and worth every penny.<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Sorry, but if I have irons where I "Love the set up and feel", I don't go changing the shafts, weights, lofts and lies willy-nilly. A classic example of "computer says no" - or at least "computer says you need to give us a large amount of money" - rather like launch monitors at certain retailers!

Again, this was a specialized golf center focused on analysis of how effective my clubs were relative to the way I play. My game has changed over the years and these changes did not allow me maintain a maximum effectiveness of my clubs. I am now getting much better results in terms of distance, trajectory, ball spin, etc. The analysis went far beyond launch monitors that make everyone look like Tiger off the tee box. There's nothing wrong with a little science when employed by an expert who is there to help you.
