Hi

Please help me someone. I am completely useless when it comes to golf but my fiance wants a new stand bag and waterproof suit for his birthday. He has Callaway clubs so I want to get him a Callaway bag. Which is the best one to get? The daytripper II looks great but can't find it and besides looks aren't everything. Also which waterproofs are the best? Finally (as if I haven't bored everyone already) where could I buy these things online (if you do have any suggestions of what to buy)?

This should shed some light on some of the things you should be looking for when buying golf bags. At the end of the article, you will see links to various reviews of golfbags, and other related articles that might help you further.

You will see on the left hand side of this page, links to various online retailers where you can buy golf equipment (including bags) online.
There are lots of brands of great golf bags out there, so look around. As a golfer, I wouldn't be too worried about getting a bag that is not the same brand as my clubs. Not sure if your fiance would feel the same, but bear this in mind if you can't find the bag you are looking for.

My mate has the Callaway Ion which is the top end stand bag & looks the dogs in black & lime green. On the downside the best price I have seen is £150 so depends on how much you love your fiance!
I have Footjoy waterproofs which imo are the best. The new Sunderland stuff looks very nice though.

Forgot to say Tree Golf has the bag @ £150 they also do FJ waterproofs. So do Letsbuygolfkit & online golf.

Manufactures such as Izzo and Ogio have very good reputuations. They only make golf bags. Ogio make the Callaway bags I think. You could always look at these brands.

I have and Ogio Grom- top bag! Izzo makes the straps for loads of other bags.

He's a lucky chap- bag and waterproofs, wish my girlfriend would buy me some new gear!!

I'll add another vote for Ogio Grom - just got one 2 weeks ago and really like it (after removing the 3 tees from the tee holder which were digging into my back - spent a whole round annoyed that my new bag was giving me a sore back!!!).

Thanks everyone. I bit the bullet and got a Callaway Ion stand bag in royal blue and black. I then got a Founders Club waterproof suit from Direct Golf. Not sure if this is any good? It cost £69.99 but was really the only one I could find in the right size (needed 29 inch inside leg). Please, please tell me that I haven't just bought a total duffer of a waterproof!!

Have just returned my 2nd callaway ion stand bag as it was faulty.Its completly pish and a waste of money.Sorry but have posted a review on the site.On the first bag the stand was faulty then on the second the stitching started to come undone.This is not the first time either as the lady at Nevada bobs said that there was a few returned recently.On the bright side i was able to get a superior TM R7 bag as well as a wedge for the refund .

29" inside leg?! Dump that shortarse and step out with a big strapping lad like me! I'll let you buy me as much golf clobber as you like;0)
