AGD - This time it's not bad!!

After spending what seems most of my life complaining about AGD, I have to eat humble pie.

I recently visited the AGD store at Thurrock. Not only was the nets empty of staff, but a young member of staff approached me and asked if he could help.

We discussed clubs, went into the nets and hit some balls. Talked about golf and how the club could help me. He made some suggestions including cheaper clubs, and I left impressed.

So much so, I went back 15 minutes later and bought the club, getting some free balls as a way to cushion the extra cost over mail order. The service was polite, advise was clear and overall, it did not seem to be like the usual AGD store where you are made to feel like you are interrupting an important teen nets session.

Well done Thurrock.

In fairness to AGD, I have to say that generally the on at Warrington Drive Time is also pretty good. It is attached to a driving range so plenty of chances to try clubs. Helpful staff and happy to tape up any club to try.

Prices are certainly not the cheapest as I raised my eyebrow at the cost of a few sets last night, but if you time it right when they have their monthly offers you can pick up some good deals.

Lets face it AGD is not all bad, but because of their higher exposure and higher than online prices they are bound to get a lot of criticism.

They are the golf version of PC World.

Once you know about about golf or PC's you won't be took in by poor advice and high prices.

I agree guys, but other threads have shown that they are not getting it right in places and it always seems to be the same problems!
