Comments appreciated on the Ram 450. Just got the 10.5 degree with stiff shaft (thought the reg. shaft a bit whippy) First impressions anybody??

My dad just bought a set of Ben Sayers irons from my local shop and they threw in a 12 degree with regular shaft (shoulda seen the grin on my old man's face). We nipped off to the range & compared notes, since I've been using my 10.5 deg for a while now and love it. Not much in it for me - both play pretty well. You're right about the "whippy" nature of the reg shaft, but I've actually really got into it. I guess the 12 is a little easier to control (on the basis of an hour alternating the two), but whatever you went for, the club will definitely do the business - long as you can!

Ah well at least it's forgiving !!

Daniel,

I got mine from www.pricebustergolf.co.uk, £64.99, free next day delivery and the headcover is rather splendid.

I used my driver on the course on Saturday and I can honestly say it was superb !!

I reckon i'll be consistantly be driver 250 yards or even more !!

Get one, or the fairway woods get it ;-)

Cheers

My Dad spent £199 on a set of Ben Sayers irons about two weeks ago and North Circular Golf gave him an FX450 for nothing! Nada! Zip! He's a happy chappie... So if you're thinking of making some kind of golf-related purchase, it might be worth having a word with NCG...

Just realised I already said that - sorry!

Whaddayamean, "catching" up with me? It overtook me a good while ago! Was worth it though...I think...er, what was the question? Did I mention "Spain/golf/going next Thursday/back after New Year" yet? I did? Oh, sorry - was just rubbing i... sorry, I mean I couldn't remember :-)

right i've decided i'm going for one of these, but not sure of which loft or flex. which ones do you guys have??? i've read that the regular shaft is a bit on the whippy side and you really need to slow down your swing. i have quite a fast swing so i'm thinking the stiff would be better. the driver i have just now is a 10.5 reg but don't seem to get much distance, usually just past 200yards on a good day.also not sure which loft.i know the 10.5 would be on the safe side but after using my pals king cobra 9deg it felt really good and could still get the ball quite airborne and more penetrating through the air. any suggestions would be good. thanks!

The best driver I have tried around that price range is the Dunlop Loco . It comes fitted with the superb Harrison striper J shaft as standard and is very long and very forgiving.

Try it, it really is a fun driver.

Again following Darths advice he he

The shaft in the loco far outways the 3 or 4 $ shaft in the Ram
Better shaft more consistant performance
Other option would be to purchase the Ram and refit a better shaft

If your getting the Ram I would say that the reg shaft can be quite whippy. If you suffer from imparting alot of side spin on the ball - as I first did when I pick ep a Ram Fx this can be emphasised with the reg
flex.
As always, whenever possible - try before you buy!

I will add that if you get on with it it is very easy to hit and can be very long.

I got a 9.5 Stiff shafted Ram 450 Ti V series last week from AGD, very nice been hitting 240 before bounce and then run out of range so hopefully with carry 250 255, which is nice. Since I do not even have a handicap and use £3 each Sport Soccer irons.

Only bad thing about it is allt he stickers on the shaft and the face leaves sticky snail trail.

yer i got loadsa mud stuck on mine which wouldnt get off without a dip in the 8th fairway lake and a scrub with the leaves
