Anywho, it all started when an old driver of my dads started to rattle. Obviously something inside had come lose. Until this happened i never even considered anything was inside a driver. but come to think of it, it does make sense to give it strength.
Well my dad drilled a small hole in it to try and see what it was, which gave me the idea to fill the thing with silicone to plug up the rattle. Well i damn near filled the club head, before i wondered if i should stop, but it was too late take any out by then, so i plugged the hole and let it set.
The driver head was now twice the original weight, in fact a bit too heavy. but i found to my surprize i was able to hit a ball further more often and more acurately, also with a higher trajectory.
So today i go to the local school field and take a bag of balls and a pocketfull of tees (used only 1 and it lasted to the very last ball) On the first try out across the lenght of 2 footy pitches i could only hit the ball about 100 or so yards, but even this was an improvement as they were flying straight and i was miss hitting far fewer. after i had hit the 40 or so balls in the bag i went off to collect them. ( i use a footy field with no trees around it, so those damn autumn leaves dont hide my balls. I learned that lesson the hard way after coming home almost ball less the first time)
I then use a new American golf Tour select x101 10 degree £10 cheapo, i bought to learn with. Not knowing that 10 degrees is a bit difficult for a learner to hit with and get any height at all. So anyway after the first club this titanium driver was light as a feather. And guess what? yes i could boot this thing an extra 30 yards straight off the bat! The difference was unreal. it really felt almost weightless in my hand after the silicon filled club. Is this the principal behind the momentus type traing clubs i wonder ? Comments anyone please, id be interested to hear if any of you guys have had similar experiences whilst learning or any othet time. ?
