I hit the Ping G2 today (Ping demo day at Surrey golf & fitness) and loved it.
I tried 3 shafts, all with 10 deg loft -Ping's own (R) -Aldila (R - 'tour flex') -Aldila (S)
I found the Aldila S the easiest to hit, out of the 3 that I tried. Is there a significant difference between the Graffaloy S and the Aldila. I will probably try both immediately befory I buy.
I'd really just like to know if anyone has had any problems with either of thse shafts, or would recommend on over the other.

Big head on the Ping so depends on which Grafalloy you are looking at. The Blue is lower torque and plays stiffer than other shafts with the same designation, ie a Blue R is like an S in another make. The Blue has a reputation for feeling 'boardy' but a lot of that may come from people ordering by shaft flex and not shaft specs. I use the Blue R and find it smooth, my driver SS probably averages high 90's mph and 105 would be about the top.
I would try with several shaft combinations if possible and also make sure you hit easy and hard. Nothing worse than having a shaft that you can only get results from if you really go after it.

I just demoed the G2 - one with a Grafalloy Prolaunch 65s (same as my current driver) and another with an NV65s. Both were 8.5*
I didn't find much differenc ebut if I had to be picky, the NV was slightly boardy whilst the Prolaunch felt smoother at impact.
I'm very happy with the Proluanch in my 983 and would recommend it.

Its not the Grafalloy blue in the G2 its the Prolaunch which is a totally different shaft.
The Prolaunch will hit higher than the NV so depends on what flight you are looking for.

I'm going to have another hit today with the G2. I'll make sure I try the different graffaloys. cheers for the advice

There is only one grafalloy choice as stock and that is the prolaunch

Just found this little chart on the ping website.
http://www.pingeurope.co.uk/uk/popups/images/chart_g2driver_shaft_specs.gif
Basicalliy it states that the Aldila has higher torque (3.5 deg) than the Graffaloy (2.9 deg), and that the graffaloy is also 3g lighter.
Are lighter shafts generally better for control, and is torque a big factor in performance?

Go for the Aldila Stiff shaft if you give it a rip, the regular shaft gave me a high fade :(

The lower the torque figure Golfpunk the less the shaft will twist on its axis - helps keep these big heads on line but has a tendency to feel flat or 'boardy' instead of lively. Matter of personal preference. I like the smooth feel of Grafalloy shafts and the fact that there are no surprises at impact.

For me the Grafalloy Blue prolaunch in R flex was the best option in the G2 and that's the one I bought.
Tried all the others in the G2 and the Blue was just my fave-felt very smooth and "connected" with the head.
I found the Adila S flex like a telegraph pole and far too low.

I tried all the 10 deg. options went for the Adila S. I did not see much difference on the miss hits , off centre, and when I deliberatly opened my stance and sliced the ball, on the good drives the Adila was about 20 yards longer than either of the others, flew slightly lower, not mich run on landing but the practice area was soft and the 250 yard fence stopped the rest. Now all I need to do is carry on putting well

Have just bought the G2 8.5deg with the stiff prolaunch shaft new for £172,Cost price is £162 from my local pro.It better work.Had a stiff blue in my last driver and this new shaft is by far the best of the 2,Found the nv shaft a bit more boardy with a lower flight and harder too handle but that could just be me.

Have just ordered a G2 10* with the Adila NV reg. There was a demo day at the place, and tried 5 or so different drivers - came down to either the G2 or the Cobra 440Z - and they were almost identical, but I didn't like the high pitched noise of the Cobra so went for the Ping.
The Graffaloy didn;t give me the right ball flight - was a little high for me, whereas the NV flew and rolled nicely - although Ionly have a 3/4 swing, so my speeds aren;t great.
