TM R580 re-grip
Will anything else fit or am I stuck with this thing??

Bought an R580 second hand the other day, awesome driver - my first big-headed titanium. One gripe though. When I got it the club had a GP V50 grip that felt much too thick. I assumed it had extra tape on it and took it to be re-gripped. I was surprised when the guy told me that the 580 has an oversized butt (a bit like my missus!) and only the OE grip will fit. I had one fitted but it looks pretty crap and doesn't feel the best, I've got a hunch it's one of those that, at the first sign of rain, turns into something with eel-like properties i.e. very slippery. Am I stuck with this grip, or can anyone make a helpful suggestion?

You can tell your missus doesn't read the forums!

Looks like you could well be stuck with the oversized thing. Maybe try one of the good winn grips ?

Not the cheapest option, but you will be lucky to find anything the same bore size in a different style than the t made grip

The shafts are garbage anyway imo

Re shaft with a normal butt size shaft then you can fit what you like.

The shaft may also be cracked if the wrong butt size grip has been fitted
Believe it or not ive actually seen a standard grip on a bubble shaft

If you try the Winn option the listings will split away from rubber sleeve deff

Just had my 580 3 wood re done and after a lot of chat with the pro he suggested and fitted LADIES Tour Velvet Golf Pride. The only reason I was having it re done was because the OEM grip was so bad in the rain.

I usually fit my own grips but after half an hours struggle to open up a standard grip wide enough I gave up and went to him. The butt sure is huge.

Cheers guys,
Exmax, don't understand the;
'If you try the Winn option the listings will split away from rubber sleeve deff' bit, can you explain please?

Try regripping with a Lamkin crossline grip - they feel less bulky to me.

Winns are wraps made up of 2 pieces , so if you expand the underlisting that the wrap is around then the joins dont meet anymore and come apart.

you're as stuck as sticky the stick insect stuck on a sticky toffee bun. Had a R580 (worst club i ever had the misfortune topurchase, however king cobra saved me)... anyway, i thought i'd fancy one of those see through grips on it. would it fit? would it bugger. 3 goes later, the pro put on a TM original and it slid on fine. ANy burner grip will fit
