I must confess ive still yet to purchase a pitchmark repair tool, Ive yet to find one without breaking the bank.. Does anyone make one less than a tenner?

Heres my Idea?

Why dont clubs provide a Pitch mark tool with every Tee off time booked.. as a incentive, this surely would help keep the course in good condition. Surely they can buythem in bulk to keep the costs down.. they could even be personalised with the club name and all to help promote the course?

Btw i use a large Thin tee at the moment, Im not a total Hack

Good idea, Paul, but there are cheap ones out there. I got one recently, I'm sure it was only £1.99 - if only I could remember where I bought it!

Most clubs sell cheap pitch mark tools and they are usually near the tills, ours sell them for 50p so no excuse. Even if clubs did hand them out there are many out there who would not use them because of laziness, ignorance or arrogance. I've heard someone say that the reason he didn't repair pitchmarks is because he didn't want to put the greenkeepers out of a job! He was soon put right.

Ours are also 50p near the till, but some give them away free.

In my club (Mosa Golf in Murcia, Spain) you`re invited to take one pitchfork for free every time a round is booked. Anyway the point is to use the pitchfork, not to have it. A pitchmark can be repaired with a tee... even with your car keys (I swear I saw it once!!)

I'll just add something here. My golf club has a bucket of Repairers on the counter and asks you to "help yourself". Because of this I have 6-7. But still there's bloody marks on the greens.............

Yep Smudge.. we've all seen that! Lots of courses "give them away"... it'll only be when people get chucked off the course for not using them. that we'll see an improvement.

Don't know anywhere brave enough!

wow... I must pay more attension while paying for my Rounds, maybe ive missed em. Even with my tee, i often repair 3 or 4 Marks on each green from lazy sods in front ...

Paul..

Its good to know some courses do give them away tho!

I was in Palm Springs last Nov, all the course I played dished out handfuls of forks, tees and ball markers as you went out.

Like to see more of that here!

I can't believe that you play without a pitch mark repairer because they are too dear!

If you are that hard up I'll post you one myself. It's an inexcusable crime not to repair pitchmarks. Use a repairer, pen knife, screwdriver, table fork, carving knife, tee peg, or anything....it's hardly rocket science, just do it, and while you are at it repair six others on every green like I do.

To repair properly check out this site.
Never used this myself but believe the research is creditable.

I play on a hotel course, and there are loads of free pitch repair tools; although they're plastic.
