About 4 months ago i decided to treat myself to some new clubs and i liked the look and feel of the comp CTs the EZs were out of my price range.
Anyway i feel i have had time to get used to them but i am hitting a good club more than what i was with my Tommy Armour 845s.
Maybe i will have to go out and get some more t/a 845s again....or should i keep pluging away with me CTS...

Has anyone had similar probs when changing clubs??

You didn't say whether they were graphites or steel Ian, the problem might be the shaft - The steel 'Release' shaft (standard on CT's) has a lower kick point than the 'Gold' = higher but not longer.

What shaft was on your 845's? - bet they were D/Gold or Rifle - both powerful.

One of the reasons why the Comp EZ's gave me greater distance is the superb shaft, TT Gold Plus, lightweight.

I did mention this on a thread when Alex asked about the CT's.

Have you noticed a difference in the height you hit the new clubs compared to the Tommy Armours.

Alan they are steel shafts, and to be honest i don't know what shaft i had on my 845s but were also steel, reg on both sets, also had progressive offset on 845s?? I do hit a fairly high ball anyway but yes i probably hit the CTs higher..
Don't get me wrong i do like the mizunos especially for working round the greens,It's just frustrating when you get to a yardage on your course which you used to hit a comfy 5 iron and you struggle with a 4iron ,i then tend to force it a bit and we all knows what happens next when you do that..
I am going for a lesson or 3 this winter and see we can work on hittting a lower flighted ball here's hoping cheers Alan

Just looked up the different lofts on Mizuno clubs - on the USA site as the European is out of commission till 20th Nov.
They do not have the CT's but what is amazing is that there can be a 4 degree difference in loft for the same club.

Comp EZ 6 iron 29 degrees - Novell 6 iron 33 degrees.

Can anyone throw light on how manufacturers grade each irons loft - what is the criteria used???

Just thinking that you could have had the loft knocked down a bit on each club Ian if you weren't satisfied. Saves buying a new set.

I agree with Alan, it's probably the shaft, not the iron.

The CT's are a game improvement club whereas the 845's were designed for the better player. The lofts may be stronger on the 845's by as much as 2 or 3 degrees per club.

Stick with the Mizuno's, they are far better and your game will benefit from them more as you will find the centre of the clubface more often than the 845's.

I change of shaft may help keep the ball lower, but not add distance.

You could try adding a bit of weight to increase the swing speed at impact, but then again, why bother, just club up and swing easy, you'll hit it better all the time.

You don't really need to hit an 8 iron 150yds, you have 14 clubs in the bag - use them all, no atter what distance you are hitting each iron.

Have 14 favourites in your bag - it helps!
