Just picked up a lovely Raw Haze Gap wedge today and it's a thing of beauty. Got it in 51 degree loft/6 degree's of bounce and can't wait to use it and compare to the Cleveland CG10 I have. To me the bounce angle looks more than 6 as the sole is quite wide...well it is compared to the CG10 anway..

Got a great deal on it too...was a display model (very slight mark-not used though) and got it down from £79 to only £65!! Result!

Gareth, let me know how you get on with it. I want something to fit in with my PW 47* (mizuno) and 60* Lob (cheapie but I like it). Don't want 2 between so probably looking at something around 54* but I want low bounce for tight lies and I tend to take very little sand in bunkers. Would be interested to hear how this performs though.

Ok Sean, will do. Am going out to practise this weekend so will have a play with the Mizuno then.

I'll be comparing it to my CG10 with low bounce as well.

It might be a thing of beauty but the "haze" finish is not designed to last, according to reviews on another website. This has caused some grief for those who didn't expect it to fade.

Just letting you know before you go using it, in case you want to return it.

I've just started using the Mizuno gap (51*) and sand(56*) wedges but I got them in Black Ni and the feel from them is superb, very soft and much, much nicer than my previous TM Blacks.

As GB as stated the Haze finish will rust whereas the Black will not.

There's a Mizuno Raw Haze 56* Sand Wedge at my local Pro Shop for £30 Second-Hand.

It is in pretty good condition, so I might get it!

I'm on dial-up here so can't risk cut'n'pasting from another site. Go to www.freegolfinfo.com and use their search facility.

Search for raw haze in the Equipment Forums (I think OEM Discussions) and you'll find a couple of posts related to this. I think the post you're looking for is "Mizuno Raw Haze sucks" - but it's only a grumble in relation to the finish. One of the responses to the post m does stress, mind you, that Mizuno expect the finish to wear.

I wasn't trying to put you off the club, but if you're taken by its looks, then sorry - but it won't look quite so pretty after a few rounds.

If that's not acceptable to you, it's best to change it now before you hit a few balls with it. Once it's used, the retailer may not consider "worn finish" an acceptable reason for exchange or refund.

I bought a Raw Haze and the finish does indeed wear off very quickly, but I was expecting that so wasn't bothered.

Like Hacker says, the feel of these wedges is terrific but if you're expeting this particular club to look the same as when you bought it after a few rounds then you're going to be disappointed. However, the finish wearing off does not affect how the club plays.

Personally, I'd say stick with it.

Thanks Paul and golf bhoy, you confirmed what I thought. At the moment it's a thing of beauty but it does have a big sticker down the shaft explaining how it will tarnish and rust. I'm a little surpised that people have complianed about this as it's got the big sticker warning and i thought everyone knew that's what happend to the decent wedges finish after a while?!!?

Personally i don't care how it looks after use (apart from marking up) but how it feels and works. The wedges that have already rusted look great to me....full of character and feel. My CG10 was a matt chrome when new and after a little use it's gone very dark, almost black...looks good to me (but has marked up a little though)..

will let you know how I get on with them.
