The Comp CT was the only item of Mizuno equipment that got a position in the polls from club golfers. The rest being dominated by Callaway.

A lot of pro's on the other hand choose to play Mizuno.

Do club golfers still percieve Mizuno to be sharply bladed, razor irons, that only pro's can play?
The truth is I have played Mizuno irons and woods for the last 18 months, have seen my handicap fall and my stroke play improve steadily.
The clubs actually educate you to hit perfect shots by being so pure out of the sweetspot. They let you know when you haven't but it doesn't cost much in the way of accuracy or distance.

They're the best for pro's or club golfers.

I have been using Mizuno Comp EZ irons for the past 6 months. Great clubs. (and they're half price now....)

However among my club golfers friends, I have yet to come across anyone using Mizuno irons.

You are right that market is dominated by Callaway. Power of marketing perhaps..??

Hi all,

I'm currently in the market for new irons and I'm giving serious consideration to custom fitted Mizuno Pro II's.

I've hit MP33 and Pro II's at the nets and I just love the way they both feel.

I think the MP33's are probably a little too much for me but the Pro II's should be enough of a blade to take me back to when I started playing and enough of a cavity to give forgiveness on all but the worst swing.

I'm still torn however between Hogan Apex Edge and the Mizuno's.

Does anyone have experience enough to give me something to think about?

Hi Ken, I'm also a member of The Vale - recently joined.

I play off 15 and have been using Mizuno Comp EZ forged irons for two years - I have no plans to change what I consider to be the best irons for a low to mid handicap golfer.

The Pro II's are certainly easier to use than the MP33's (strictly single figure handicappers sticks)but they are still a little 'blade' like and will be a handful for a 20 handicap, particularly the long irons.

Try Comp EZ's they feel the same but much more forgiving and only slightly more bulky than the Pro II's

Hi Alan,
Thanks for your reply.

I agree with you that Pro II's could be a handful but I use a one iron regularly, and successfully, and I learned to play with blades thirty years ago in my native West of Scotland.

My handicap is more a consequence of crap short iron play and putting rather than the long stuff.

How familiar is that story ?

I realise that initially I will suffer but I feel that the "blade" effect of the Pro II's will lead me back to the sort of striking that I want to enjoy.

With cavity back irons I always feel that you don't get the rewards for a good strike and you don't feel the punishment for a bad one, everything more or less feels the same.

So roll on that familiar bone shaking sensation the comes from a real bad strike when using blades and that sweet feeling when one flies from the centre of the sweet spot.

Best regards,

Ken
