All my Irons have head-covers.. but it amazes me Wedges dont come with one?

there was a list of golf do's and don't a good few months back - headcovers for irons was firmly planted in the DONT column!! If you find a shop that sells "wedge covers", inform the golf-police.

I use the Neoprome or what ever they are called? They are fine... Whats the problem??
No problem Paul, I use headcovers as well. If it prolongs the life of the clubs I'm all for it.
In answer to your question, I have two TM RAC wedges and neither of them have covers. They don't damage as easily as my irons as they are made from a harder metal. Sand wedge covers fit on them but I haven't bothered to get any.

I'm in the 'cover them up' brigade...they'll on drivers/fairways and putters so why not?
Actually, in truth, those that want to, do and those that don't want to, don't, so who really cares? It's a personal choice as far as I'm concerned.

 'they'll', meant they're

Hmmm, what's the point in protecting irons in your bag.... first time out with my new Vokey lob wedge, used it for a bunker shot and found a nice stone buried just under the surface of the sand... result? 1 nice chunk of missing lob wedge.

I simply wipe the sand off and put the wedge back in my bag - but then my clubs aren't really expensive enough to warrant the time fiddling with head covers.

Same happened to me Chris, first time out with my forged Mizuno.

If you use forged wedges then I would say yes. The forged wedges just 'dink up' so easily.

why would someone need headcovers for wedges? wouldnt that slow down the rusting process???
It would also be very annoying trying to put the headcover back on after every single shot.
Not all wedges rust James. I would say at least 50% of wedges are made not to rust. I have a TM black which is designed not to rust and a TM Oil can which is designed to rust. I don't have covers on either of them.

I use head covers in my bag. i hate the clack clack noise that carryin makes and the scuffing on he clubs. Once I got used to it I don't believe it takes any longer than 2 seconds to put the cover on and certianly does not make me slower than several people I have played comps with in the past.
I agree nik, I pop the headcover in my pocket, play the shot and while walking back to the bag pop it on.. simple and not slow.. plus i can sleep tight at night knowing if the dog knocks over my golfbag nothing is going to get scuffed or chipped..
Paul.

I think this is a load of old pony about "taking ages to put on the head covers". I have used head covers for years. They are not tied together so I just sit them on the bag while I take my shot, then grab the cover, slip it back on put the club back in the bag and away I go. That must add, oooh, 5 seconds a shot. Max. (and for the anoraks out there, in a 90 shot round, that's 90 less 15 drives, less 30 putts, less 10 fairway shots which leaves 45 iron shots so 225 seconds or less than 4 minutes - in a 3-4 hour round). I like to protect my clubs, I do it with the Woods and Putter. Equipment's not cheap so why not look after it.

 Whoops, pardon my maths

Paul - does the dog not object to you keeping your golf gear in his kennel ?
Hi PaulW... I dont think my Tour bag would fit in a Kennel.. but hey.. I keep my Clubs in the Hallway... I hope that doesnt open up another Can of worms now...
Paul.
