Bob Pile ? .... :-/ hmm , that evokes a memory from the past :

must have been around 1972 or '73 as I was 9 or 10 years old and still at Junior School - (actually , I wonder if metally I left ?) - anyway , I remember walking to school one day (yes walked !) in my new 'Clarks Pathfinder' shoes that Mum & Dad had bought for me :)

now anybody who can recall will know that 'Clarks Pathfinders' were the <insert name of todays 'with it' shoe-ware> of their day ! .... so good in fact they had on the soles either the embossed paw print of a wild animal (lion) or the tread pattern of a racing car tyre .... I had the latter - not sure the tread pattern helped me walk any 'faster' than the other kids or 'gripped' better in the wet ? - nonetheless , I liked 'em !

so , walking to school in me new shoes I obviously (but un-beknown to me) trod in a 'Bob Pile' that a dirty doggy must have deposited :( .... worst thing about 'Clarks Pathfinders' as I was to eventually find out is that muck and 'Bob Piles' (if you trod in them) would encase in the tread pattern and dry out .... by mid-morning in class I was wondering why I was sitting on my own ? - I thought the smell was maybe coming from one of the poor kids but no - guilty as charged !

teacher made me leave the classroom for making a smell and stand outside in the corridor :( .... bonus was though it was a Maths lesson , so clouds & silver linings :)

anyway , just thought I'd share ...... as you were !

Paul, I also had a frighteningly similar experience ragarding Clarks shoes and sh!te in the 70's.

My mate was over keen to show off to my Mum and Dad his new Clarks Commandos, so in our living room he proudly lifted his right shoe which now resembled a wedge platform, due to the lump of dog sh!t lodged between sole and heel.

Needless to say he didnt need the the compass in the heel to find his way out and then home, there was a trail of brown footsteps in carpet and in the snow outside.

CG

PS as trendy as they were Pathfinders were rubbish for sliding in winter.
