I bought a R580 5 wood from ebay, its in good condition, but has been reshafted with a regular steel shaft.

Just wondering if I should get it fitted with a graphite shaft.

The stock shaft is a TM MAS 2 with .35 tip. Is it worth sourcing a replacement TM shaft or going for something different?

i have a R580 3 wood which i bought with a stock taylor made regular graphite shaft.as my game improved,and my swing, i had it re shafted with a stiff UST proforce gold fairway shaft.i havent used a steel shafted fairway wood,but i would imagine it would depend on your swing.see what your pro thinks at your club.i'm not sure about taylor made's stock shafts,i have a R580 7 wood with a stock shaft and i dont get the same feel or action from it.

Thanks. I had a feeling that the stock shaft wouldn't be that good, and I thought a different one would be better.

Anyone have any suggestions on a good fairway shaft?? I'd say that I wasn't looking for something with a low trajectory as I seem to have this naturally.

I have a Taylor R580 3 with the standard 60 shaft and cannot fault it. I bought a R540 based upon the performance but it had the 70 (or might have been 80) shaft in which hit it way too high.

Trainer, e-mail LowProGolf.com and ask about their Frenzy series of shafts, give him all the usual details about your swing, Swingspeed, carry distance, normal shape of shot etc and he'll see you get the right shaft. I have all my clubs reshafted by these guys, the quality of their work is second to none and I have yet to have anything other than praise for Bryants selections.
