Went to the shop last night Progen are indeed very nice wedges however felt very similar to the cleveland wedges. To some this will be a good thing but for me just don't know. Still left with the tour style to find and try.

I was given a 52 degree cleveland 900 gunmetal for a birthday present, and I must say the feel and consistancey form the club has made me realise the vast difference between the 900 and my £5 special from donnay I started with, I have just picked up the 58 degree cleveland 900 GM for 70 quid from american golf, which I think is a bit of a bargain, as second hand you are looking at £50 + p&p.

Bogeyman i've tried them all and bought a few as well,the best for me was is the Hogan carnoustie wedges.I only tried them by accident and was amazed .Went home with the 52 and 56sw and sold my cleveland 900s.As has been said before dont just go for a name go for what feels good . Theyre all different and you need the confidence round the greens cos theres no going back and no get out of jail round the greens if you thin the bugger into the water etc

All the great players have feel around the green and treat their wedges with reverence, this is the money earner for the pro's.

Vokey wedges are tailored to a players needs, ie loft and bounce.

A 60 with 10 degrees of bounce will act totally diferent than one with 8 degrees.

An oil-can or chrome will spin less than a rusty "RAW"

There is one reason some wedges are darn expensive, they inspire confidence because they work with your game.

Fed up waiting on a Tour Style coming in so, I have a Wilson Staff Tw5 52° on its way. Was very cheap and if no good will sell and continue my search being stuck with only my SW has forced me to be creative from 70 yards in so have decided a lob wedge may just end up gathering dust and am liking my 3i now so would prefer not to lose it.

Bogeyman if you need something to tide you over I've got 4 Callaway Pro Series wedges in the house 48,52,56 and 60.

Thanks Kev, but thats me sorted now PW and SW from my set and my new Gap Wedge couldn't resist at £35 like I said if no good sell it and look again, to get a Lob would have meant getting rid of a club most likely the 3i which has proved to be useful the past couple of outings. Was waiting on a place getting the tour style mizunos in before I made my mind up, took so long may still get one of those if better than my Tw5 :o)

Went through the same decision, Titleist black or Mizuno MP. I've got the MP32's so was trying to convince myself that the Mizuno wedges would balance nicely, I was wrong. Mizuno wedges are too heavy in my opinion, very nice still. Found the Titleist perfect for my needs, not overly heavy.

Titleist and Mizunos wedges are both great - just depends on personal choice. One other aspect is that you can order custom shafts in either make. Mizuno do DG, DG Lite and a couple of Rifles, all in various flexes in some of their wedges, and Titleist do DG200 and 300. Choosing a shaft to match your irons can make a difference in the feel.

I've wanted a lob wedge for a while but will probably get castrated if I spend lots of money on a new club!

Have got the chance of getting a Snake Eyes 60 degree wedge for £30. Is that a price too good to miss or am I better saving up for a different model?
