I am looking to fill in the gap between my 46 Deg PW and my 60 Deg LW.
Would I be better off with a 52 or a 54 Deg Progen Gun Metal Wedge?

 53* would be perfect ;)
But really between that gap should be 2 Wedges IMO...

 Alex,
You are always one to say try before you buy.
So why are you not advocating your own opinions?
Depends on
a) your course b) bounce on sole c) type of course you generally play.
Really theres not going to be a hell of a lot of difference between distance and loft when comparing 52 v 54 degrees.
Get your maths text book aout, and a calculator, and work out the distances

buy a 54 or 56 to suit the sand where you play if you have very soft sand around 12* degree if you have hardish sand around 8* should suffice.
Are you selling the RAC because it does not work in the sand, can you be specific about why it it does not work.
Eg too little bounce will cause the wedge to dig in and the ball goes nowhere.

I normally use my Lob Wedge out of the Bunkers. I just found the RAC was rubbish off the fairway and was great out of the rough either.
|
 |
 'was' should be 'wasn't'
|
 |
ps if you have not sold your RAC with the 14 bounce fancy a swap for a TM300 series 56* with graphite shaft regular 8* bounce, club is virtually unused.

with 14 bounce I'm not surprised it did not work off the fairway. That amount of bounce really is for very soft sand. Surprised about the out of the rough though.

Just didn't like the feel of it, too heavy, I kept overpowering shots around the greens, that's why I'm selling it in favour of a Progen, because they are a bit lighter and cheaper too.
|
 |
Yes I like the Progen, sold my Vokey after buying one really cheaply on ebay (£15). Sold the Vokey for £45. Also bought a Tad Moore (Maxfli's one time chief designer, got his own company now) really excellent for the little chips around the green for semi buried lies.

To be honest unless your playing abroard in white sun bleached perfect soft sand you should never need anything more than 10 deg of bounce (max!).
|
 |
Don't known about that Trev, the sand in some of the Ayrshire links bunkers can be very soft. Also if you're playing of a really soft piece of fairway a bit more bounce helps prevent you taking half the fairway. As to Alex's question I reckon you need 2 wedges to fill that gap, say 51 and 56.

Alex, have you made your mind up ?
