Can anyone tell me if my TaylorMade R580XD is conforming or not for 2007/2008 ? Im in the process of selling it & have been asked the question.

There are two versions conforming and non conforming. If yours has lines in the centre of the face then it conforms. See here for info
http://www.usga.org/playing/clubs_and_balls/driver/non-conforming_driver_list.html

you can click to get a picture of both versions.

There ARE two versions of the R580XD, and BOTH conform. One conforms to USGA, the other to R&A. I didn't know this until recently, although Taylormade re-released the R580XD in a conforming spec fitted with an Aldila shaft.

From memory the RandA site often just points to links on the USGA site? especially for photos

This link has the photos of the conforming and non-conforming models. As MisterS3 says, it is fron the USGA website.

It might be worthwhile GM doing a list of non-conforming drivers for
2008 , if its not already been done and Ive missed it cheers . SB.

bizarre isnt it --------- clubs of today, hit it further (though not straigher) than the clubs of literally yesterday, my S'quad has no lines on centre part of face but conforms...........

As a 10 handicapper - would it make any REAL difference? No!

Many Thanks,

Its a long list still puzzled why score line make the club conforming
though, ecuse my lack of knowledge on the topic.

 Booty

With some of the hot faced drivers the face was constructed of very thin metal, which gave it the trampoline effect. The face is therefore too thin to put score lines on it - if they did that, it would weaken it too much and it would be liable to collapse on impact.

Its not the score lines that make it illegal, but the fact its of a (soon to be) illegal construction that means they can't put score lines on it - if that makes sense??
