Cheap ones, maybe even a half set and you can leave the driver out for now. Don't buy new, don't worry about big names you have seen advertised, buy second hand, 5 iron, 7 iron, 9 iron and a pitching or sand wedge, a 3 wood, a putter and a bag.
Once you start playing and can hit the ball with some degree of consistency, then you could think about getting some more. The reason for waiting is you don't really know how you are going to play and what will suit you.
You will see some guys start by walking in to the pro shop and filling a bag with Callaways. Bad idea and expensive. They will look pretty cool missing the ball with their new X-18 5 iron.
