I'm new to the game been going to the driving range regulary now, and i feel it's about time i got my own set, as we are preparing for a round soon.
So far i've found six sets.

Howson Starter - £129.99
Falcon F-380(Steel) - £89.99
Falcon F-380(Graphite) - £99.99
Falcon Tour 450(Steel) - £129.99
Falcon Tour 450(Grapgite) - £149.99
Ryder Z60 - £129.99

If anyone knows of any other similar items which would be better please let me know, and advice on the above would be much appreciated.

As I always say Skymax are great clubs for mid/high handicappers. I have used mine for 2 years and at £17 a club you can't go wrong.

Ive got Howson Derby plus irons and have done so since last November, they are the only thing ive not changed in my set, and ive changed alot of things alot of times!!

Im not upgrading my irons anytime soon either, depsite cheap second hand sets of Titleists etc cropping up at my local course.

Might be worthywhile reading a few reviews, then if possible try a few clubs out, this may prove more difficult tho unless your local shop is willing to let you 'have a go'.

Try and have a hit with some of them. When I got my clubs a month or so ago I didn't really have much idea what I was looking for, got some advice from my local pro who recommended a few beginner sets. Took a couple of clubs from each set out on the range and picked the one's that felt best to me.

I've said it time and time again here to people looking for their first set of clubs.

Go for the second hand option and save money while buying a much better set, if your lucky you can get a very good set of irons from e-bay for about £40.

RAM do a starter set for Men and ladies. I can get you a set (includes a putter, woods (incl headcovers), irons and a golf bag) if you want. I think they retail around £200 but can check it out if you are interested.

Is that the Demon Plus? Coz I've seen them for £130. Are they worth while?

If you want to go really cheap I've seen some Howson clubs @ £2.99 each !

Can't remeber where though, I'll go and plow through the magazines and find out who it was from.

Hmm, my stash of golf magazines appears to have been relocated the the recycling bin & got very wet !

My old boy started playing again recently and I bought him a set of Bay Hill CTX400 of something like that, having had a hit with them I can say they are good quality and should be ample for a starter. They even look a little similar to Calloway BB'S

Follow the link http://www.thesportshq.com/Products.asp?CategoryID=14

and they have some good packages.

Forgot to add,
my mate plays with the Texan hybrid set and he plays pretty well.
Don't be afraid to go for the hybrid set, that way you can start without the difficult to hit long irons.
