Hey there,
I consider myself a reasonably good golfer. ive been playin for a year now and wish to invest in some new golf clubs. i just wish to hear some opinions on good irons for under £350 (approx. $530 and 530 euros)
thanks.....

I think you need to be careful not to fall into a trap here.. irons 'suit' people. Some suit one person better than another. When I got my first set of decent clubs I was told to spent time trying various sets. 6 sets later and 2 visit to the Pro-Shop later they had chosen me!!
I've discovered this with other clubs too, some you just pick up and think wow! That happened with my lob wedge... ooh I love it.

I've just upgraded to a set of Wilson Deep Red's they are really great and felt comfortable from the outset.

Titleist have just brought in a new range of irons to supercede last years model DCI 990.
If you can find them (DCI 990) in American Golf Discount or Online Golf etc. they should retail about £350 and from my own experience they are great clubs.
Hope this is of help to you.

wilson fat shaft always get good reviews and are competitively priced....the titleist 762's(mentioned by bill) are not as forgiving as other clubs out their and are really only suited to single figure handicappers - the technology is out their to help you, so embrace it! (as soon as finances allow i'm going to change my dci 962's for the more forgiving callaway x-14's)...anything with perimiter weighting and a deep-ish cavity should do the trick - if the appearance matches what you're looking for...

I believe there are few "bad" sets out there now and for less than £350 you can get some good clubs from the less fashionable manufacturers (Progen, Hippo, Powerbilt, John Letters) which all review pretty well. I have also seen the FatShaft Mk2 and Mizuno Comp CT at this price range if you shop around. But as has been said above. Hold them, hit them, try them to be comfortable before you buy. There are some (big name) clubs I would not buy purely on cosmetic reasons (not logical I know but you have to feel confident when you look down at the club).

Just noticed there is an ad for online golf offering Top-Flite XL2000 at £179.99 and I remembered seeing reviews on them on Golfreview.com and over 63 tests the average score was 4.97 out of 5! If you want to look at the reviews they are on

The reviews are excellent.
Anyone tried these clubs?

Upgraded in July to Taylor Made 200s which can be got for £379 from JJB. Personally I find them to be superb clubs but as has been said above try a number of different manufacturers before you buy.

I agree with Paul I have just got my Deep Red's working v v well indeed, the control for me anyway is much better than others I have tried, but make sure you try and try well before you buy

Try Paulo Golf--I bought 6 months ago anew set of Mercury irons fitted with dynamic gold sensor-core shafts. It has really transformed my game giving me confidence to hit long iron shots from the fairway. The irons are identical to X14s but only half the price---you wont be dissapointed.
