I've just seen a complete set of Hippo Impact UC500 Irons with graphite shafts for £30 + £10 p+p. Is this good value for a starter set?

£40 for a full set of irons seems like a bargain to me. If they suit you or not is another question but for £40 probably worth the risk.

40 quid? If they are in one piece then I would say it's a bargain!

Especially as a started set. (You'll probably be able to flog them for more than you paid for them when you are ready to move on)

Or even trade them in for more..

My first set where Hippo John Daly graphite shafts which I used for 1 1/2 years up to last June. Then I switched to Hippo Plus steel shafts ( £80 brand new from the golf hq )..

I found my graphite shots to be high and left ( I am left handed ) but the steel shafts go much straighter for me..

Thats not to say graphites won't work for you though..

sets at that value are great when it comes to trading up as many discount centre offer trade values at set price ie £150 no matter what the state or type of clubs

Cracking deal, couldn't find a better starter set in my opinion. Hippo are great at designing clubs with new-comers in mind, decent brand too. class deal
