I've been playing on and off for a year now.
I initially had a starter set of Wilson ProStaffs before upgrading to some MX17's.
They are fantastic. I was neither the cleanest of hitters or the most accurate, but with these I am now consistent and confident when approaching the ball.
My handicap has dropped around 5 shots in a month thanks to these.
BUY THEM, it makes the game all the more enjoyable... but I had mine custom fitted. It doesn't cost much more, and it makes the world of a differance.

I said some time ago I thought the MX23's were great and still think so however... I started to get vertical cracks on the faces of the short irons which in turn went rusty even though I kept them well oiled. Guess who's not a happy bunny???!!! They went back to Mizuno last Thursday so i am waiting to see what they have to say about it all. personally, i feel they should replace them with a new set the analyse what is wrong with the steel and get it sorted out before they have a similar incident. I will keep you posted.

I have the MX17's. On the day I bought them I took them to the range and instantly hit better shots. Nearly every shot went straight as an arrow and some seemed to move in the air like I hadn't hit it from the centre and the club was correcting it!

I also saw some improvement in distance too in this initial day.

I've since undergone lots of swing changes and gone to pot but I know these clubs are good from the first day when my swing was identical to how I hit my old clubs.

But Mike did the clubs cause you to swing differently causing your current lack of form?

To be honest my MX17's are good and now I've sorted out my slight draw I think they will serve me well until I require something I can move the ball about with a bit more. Which I have to say is probably a long way off.

I am a High handicapper( just started) I have the taylormade rac lt 1's and are finding they are very hard to hit but when I connect with them they are so sweet to hit.

But I am looking for a more forgiving set. Are the mx17's for me ??

Could anyone please help ??

thanks

Started playing again after a few years lay off due to work, previously played with Mizuno T Zoid Pro irons, stiff rifle shafts, h/cap 17. Could strike the ball well for a not very forgiving club. However as we all know the longer the lay off, or not practicing the more we slip back into bad habits (or at least I did).

Kept the Pro's, but bought a set on MX17's, regular steel shafts, balls fly well, a little shorter than the Pro's, but thats probably me, easily remedied though by taking 1 club more.
As I say just started agin, now off 22,(7000 yard course) have played a couple of times to my old h/cap, and probably will be back to that come the spring.

You could also try a set of hybrid irons. With more people now replacing their 3 & 4 irons with hybrids it may be worth a thought.

The deep red 11 are great clubs but I think you would be better with the distance model rather than the tour one. I wasin the same position as you and I went with what felt right for ME, regardless of name or looks. I never regretted it and remember that 80% of this game is in your head so you must get that right before you put a tee in the ground

I am a mid handicapper and I have just bought a set of Mizuno MX 17.

They are brilliant. Loads of distance, loads of height and goo feel to them. Very forgiving also.

I also tried the macgregor m455s but found them to be a little clumsy and heavy.

These are definately a very good club that has made me a better and more confident striker of the ball.
