I'm thinking of buying one of the above clubs, which one should I choose. I would buy a Ping G2, but I can't afford one on my humble salary and these two clubs seem the best for the money they cost.

Evan, you could hold back a couple of weeks. With the new Ping G5 out early september you may find lots of discounts on the G2, providing they still have any in stock of the spec you want

Cheers for that, might just do that. My bank balance is rather dictating me to wait as well.

On a slightly different point, relating to the Mizuno 001, I've noticed that the 40cc version is roughly £80-90 more expensive than the 400cc version (on ebay). Does 60cc of increased size justify such a price difference. Does it really make that much difference. I know the 460cc is a newer model, but is it worth paying extra for the extra 60 ccs.

Evan,

This off the mizuno website:-
"The 460cc generates a higher launch angle than the 400cc ensuring even greater ease of use and distance.

The 400cc model continues with a more compact, deep profile offering greater versatility and the ability to shape shots."

The mizzy and the cally are near enough the same really personally I launched the Mizzy higher and as a result it carried further.

Depends on what shaft you want in it really id give the nod to the exsar over the RCH but its personal preference really.

You could always buy my 2nd hand G2 if you wanted and save £60-80 on the new price...

Have a look in the 2nd Driver section here.

Gareth.

The MP 001 400cc tends to launch it low and its not the longest of drivers, it does go very straight though !!! I dont think there is a lot to choose between all of the big brands and I would say that the shaft is the most important thing to consider, go to a shop with a range and try them all out, you can then go on ebay or one of the net shops and find one at the best price, i am a terminal driver swapper and have tried most of them !!! It really is a case of finding the right club for you, reviews only tell the story of the reviewer, one ,ans meat and all that !!! Good luck !

Aren't the MP-001s being replaced? I recall seeing new 2006 clubs on the mizuno website when i was looking at fairway woods.

Discontinued since February, old stock is being cleared to make way for new products. You can pick up a MP001 for £99 I think. The 454 is also "on the way out" since the FT3 launch. I've seen that for £149 today, £179 last week. Hang fire for a wee while ...
