I am about to recieve (as a gift of love no doubt) a brand new set of Nike NDS Irons for my birthday........very nice to I'm sure your agree.

Anyhoo the question is this........the set runs from 3 Iron to PW and I am now faced with the question I have outlined above.

Do I go for a bladed/forged SW or the Nike CPR LW?

Any thoughts?

Get yourself say a 54* SW and a 60* LW if you can.

I can recommend the Progen Gun Metal wedges and they are a bargain at only £30 each. I'm sure others on here will agree.

I've got the NDS, they are excellent, don't let the high trajectory put you off. You'll love 'em.

I'm currently using the sand wedge out of my old set, but am looking for a suitable 56 degree sand wedge, (look at e-bay thats what the NDS sand wedge is). I've seen several, just haven't plummetted for one yet, more because I'm into getting everything custom fit at the moment.

2 sensibly priced 'off the shelf' which stand out are the Progen, and MD Golf wedges.

I'd get the sandwedge to begin with before a lob wedge. Ideally, you want both, so bare that in mind for Christmas, or the next time you have a few quid.

I have a Ben Hogan 56d sandwedge that is awesome to use, and a Hippo 60d lobwedge that has transformed my bunker play.

At the moment I'm looking for a 50-52 degree club to sit between my PW and SW, as my PW packs a little too much punch on three-quarter approach shots.

I bought a set of Alien wedges (52, 56 & 60 degrees)fro £29 at Nevada Bobs. The best 30 quid I have ever spent. Real nice and easy to hit. Nice high flight with a very soft landing.

All: Thanks for the advice........I must admit I had not really considered having both. I thought that the PW from the set would cover any gaps. I will certainly have a re think on the matter.

Marcus: Thanks for the thoughts on the NDS.....I am really looking forward to getting my hands on them........we got them fitted from American Golf last month but my birthday's not until the 18th of Sept and she has hidden them somewhere, (can't find them anywhere.)

She hid em at my house and I'm really enjoying playing with them :)

I'll clean them up before giving them back :)

Hello George,

My budget at the moment is zilcho! But my birthday's coming up so I'm hoping to have three wedges all the same. The hogan 52 and 60 would be perfect as I know then by using the same manufacturer that the gap between each club is right. In my old set of clubs i had a few different wedges and hit my vokey 56 as far as a ping 52, and my 60 absolutely nowhere, so I'm willing to wait to get the right combination.

That's a good price on a vokey as well, cheers.
