I like watching Ian Poulter...a) because he's a Brit with a bity of attitude, b) because he dresses  with a bit of attitude and c) because he gives it that little bit of extra 'gertcha!' in the hit. Luv it!

I am a huge fan of Poulter, he has bags of character, yet people consistantly critise him say it is hiding the fact that he is an average Pro on the Euro Tour, Well i bet most average Pro's on the Euro Tour wish they earned as much cash and won as many titles as him.

We cry out for characters in sport and soon as we get one every one wants to knock him for it!

These are my golfing hero's

1. Nick Faldo- I don't care what anyone thinks, he will always will be England's best ever. Faldo clinic linky

2. Seve Ballesteros- Great ball striker, shot maker and short game legend Seve linky

3. Jack Nicklaus- Golf biggest living legend ever with a record every pro would love to beat. Jack's linky

Maybe not to every ones choices, but these are the players that give me the inspiration to get out and play even when my game is struggling, I just stick on a video and want to get out and play as soon as I finished watching.

They had the determination, the will and the skill's to be champions, these 3 are my all time golfing hero's.

Faldo is the sole reason I took up the game. He was my 1st golfing hero. That clinic, Greegrass, is fantastic stuff. Thanks for posting it.

If I had say four choices to idolise(funny word for what it represents) and I would love to have ten if time and the patience of GM members would allow, I would go for four who were/are GREAT golfers and total GENTLEMEN on and off the course:

BOBBY JONES, THE complete gentleman, a wonderful swinger of a golf club, in many knowledgeable watchers' eyes the greatest golfer who ever lived, bore a crippling disease(which killed him) for many years without a single complaint and was loved and respected throughout the world of golf.

ARNOLD PALMER, the most recognisable swing? in golf, a gentleman to rival Bobby Jones, a great and sporting winner -and loser-and the man who is generally regarded as making golf so popular throughout the world long before Nicklaus attained his stature and Tiger appeared on the scene.

TOM WATSON, IMO the sweetest, most natural quick-tempo swinger of a golf club ever with a smile and temperament to match, a 9 majors winner and idolised by fellow players and spectators everywhere he played- particularly in Scotland where he has also won the British Seniors Open.

HENRY COTTON, after Nick Faldo the greatest British golfer since Harry Vardon. Never a truly well man,he was the bulwark against the American invasion of our Open in 1948  having already won it in 1934 and 1937!! He was knighted for his services to golf and became a very famous golf teacher and consultant with a golf school in Vilamoura. His swing was  dominated by the hands and became THE swing for many fine golfers for many years and is still copied today!

I used to love Jonny Millers swing, all ways wanted to be him in the four ball mid 70s knock around

I happen to like Poulter for what he has done for the golfers image, pitty about those pink shoes he was wearing today though.
