Steph, I have a lot of sympathy for you, as you had the badge but just failed to display it properly - that's a technicality. Last week I watched a brand-new Peugeot pull up in a disabled bay, the 25-y-o(ish) woman driving it throw a blue badge on the dash, and her and her Mum get out and swan in a perfectly able-bodied way (and their designer sunglasses) down the High Street. Now those people deserve a ticket.
But fen, Pengwyn et al - you're dead wrong. Mobiles are a distraction and do kill people. You might get away with it most of the time, but that's no excuse for taking the risk.
If someone kills my daughter because he wasn't in control of his car while talking on a mobile, I'm going to hope he gets a short sentence: because that way I can track the b'stard down and rid the world of him sooner rather than later.
