Nope, afriad not Kieron. DT is the catch-all under the new national curriculum and includes metal and wood work, graphics, design, textiles, etc. However food is now not part of it, it is now Food Technology! .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Yawn

Back to the original question...

You only need to cut the shaft with either hacksaw or pipecutters and smooth off the cut end with a file/emery paper. There is nothing else to go in the cut end.

As some of the previous advice, don't cut too much off at once, 1" will make a big difference.

I cut down an old Mizuno putter by 2" and ruined the swing weight, it became too light, then had to add a shaft extension to get it back to feeling right.

No need for a plug or insert.
Just file down the end and bang the grip on yourself. It won't rip the grip and you won't feel a thing. There's no plug in there to start with anyways.

It's literally a 10minute job for the entire de-grip, measure up, cut, file, re-grip process.
It's so simple that its's literally not worth taking to the pro.

Surely you know someone with a vice or a workbench jobby.
All else you need is a metal saw, file, knife to cut off the grip (which should be done before measuring up and cutting down) double sided tape and white spirit.

It's not about your height that relates to club length, much more the distance from hands to floor when in you stance.

I recently took an inch an a half of my bettinardi putter and I honestly am so much more comfortable over the ball and as a result, more consistent on the greens.
I started a thread on the subject but am too lazy to link to it...

Rather embarassingly, the head has just fallen off my putter! It was already loose when I aquired it, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise! I have managed to clean up the hole and the shaft as well, but was just wondering if anyone could advise me as to what glue would be best to use to re-stick the shaft?

Cheers

Araldite or similar will be fine in this case. Make sure to thoroughly clean inside the putter hosel and clean the tip of the shaft before assembling.

Sorry mate, but that made I laugh.

Just to follow on from what rgjusa mentions make absolutely sure the shaft is clear of ALL glue and if it isnt already........... rough it up with a little sand paper to ensure the glue grips well, but only round the tip you dont want the scuffing showing up the shaft.

This way the head wont fall off again.

Thanks for the advice! I'll give it a whirl!

Right,

Many thanks for all the advice. Putter head is now glued back on, shaft is cut down and grip is replaced.

only one more question -  How the hell does one get the smell of turps out of the grip now?!?
