There may be quite a few more single sex golf clubs when the new Equality Bill comes into force.

For example, the ladies section at our club do not want equal playing rights, they would rather pay reduced subs. This may soon be against the law. One way around this we think, would be to have 2 seperate clubs (male & female) and the course and facilities are leased to both clubs, but not the ladies club on a Saturday.

There is a club local to me called Leasowe GC which is male only.

And why not ? It is a private club, the word being PRIVATE. Their club and their choice.

I agree with the individuals right to form a private club and run it how they see fit.

I follow the logic Penwyn, but the difficulty comes when you take it to its logical conclusion. In other words, If a group of white supremecists wish to form a private golf club for whites only, shouldn't they be allowed to?

And if the answer is no, why is it that it is ok to discriminate against women but not other minorities?

It's a tricky one.
