marks and spencer blue harbour range have been excellent value and kept me dry, rain beads and runs off... ok so its a coated product but it does not cause me to perspire as much as my sunderland goretex where i get as wet from the inside as from the outside and i also used to have a proquip which since having been washed following the instructions using a non bio and at 30 is now just like blotting paper and has now been relegated to the car would not buy again so keep on swinging in the rain oh yeh iam swinging in the rain what a glorious feeling to be putting in the rain sorrry to good to miss that one

On the bottom i use a pair of Peter storm breathable overtrousers. Less than £20 from Millets. Totally effective. Can also be worn on their own if it's wet but not cold, as they're lined. Two solutions on top. For the winter and really heavy rain, I have a full zip jacket from the Maine Golf range exclusive to Debenhams. Exceptional value and totally effective, unless of course the rain gets down the back of the neck, but what garment will prevent that? 2nd solution is a softshell short sleeved overtop by Cross, bought for a song at TK MAX. i like the freedom and zero restricyion on the swing. Shoes are Footjoy Contour - dry enough for me - and Footjoy rainglove tops it off. Of course there is the brolly for when I'm not actually taking a shot and the rain is heavy.

Galvin Greens for me,tried all sorts over the years, these are top quality. Can be bought on ebay for a lot cheaper than in Pro shop/Golf shop.

I had a turquoise Pringle waterproof suit for years and years which I paid £149 for in the early 1990's, but a couple of years ago, in some appalling conditions, one of my playing partners thought I was only wearing it in case the search and rescue people had to come out as it was more illuminous than a high-viz jacket. So I thought it was about time I changed it. I purchased a Stuburt dri-back suit (still bright in colour but nowhere near as bad as the former) and I love it. It keeps me dry (which is the main thing) but it's so comfortable and unrestricting. The only downside if any is that the zips on the pockets often jam which can be a bit of a pain. But well sone Stuburt I say - great gear at really affordable prices.

If Goretex Paclite is your thing what about Berghaus Why pay another 80 quid for Galvin Green?

Like Daff, Also own Proquip Silk Touch waterproofs, found them to be excellent and now reduced in price to around £109 for the suit, i guess there new range is out soon.

I have an unbelievably red Pro quip Jacket and a pair of Sunderland over trousers, both are very very good in all but torrential rain and the good old Footjoy shoes do the rest

No brand as such. I just moved to Thailand. Never even seen waterproofs out here except for the bags. stop when it rains. enjoy the 9 and 1/2 month dry season. especially the cool part of it.

I've got a J Lindeberg waterproof jacket which uses Gore-Tex.
I'm on the lookout for some waterproof trousers now though, most probably some GG's as i haven't heard a bad thing about them.
Cheers.

For summer showers I'd heartily recommend the range of water resistant trousers done by M&S they really are good - outperforming some genuine waterproof trousers I've had in the past.
