 Hi Ian
Welcome to GM. Your scores are certainly heading in the right direction!
Whereabouts in Bristol do you play?
|

Welcome to the forum Ian there are lots of people on here who will be able to give you good advice. And then there are some on here, well you will soon catch on

Hi Ian I am also new to Golf Magic, and it's great to hear that you have started playing this great game. OK it can be extremely frustrating at times but the feeling will also be fantastic when you make your first par or birdie. I have been playing the game now for about 32 years and play off a handicap of 6. I play my golf at Whittington Heath Golf Club in Staffordshire and have been a member there for 29 years. I'm sure you will find many fellow golfers more than willing to help you get that handicap down over the coming months but in the meantime just go out and have fun - that is the most important thing. _of_18th_n_berwick.JPG) There are a few on here around this neck of the woods..I live west of Swindon and play at Bowood.
How is the renovation at Woodlands going?

 Ian (W)
Most important question - are you red or blue?
I play at Cumberwell Park, just outside of Bath. You might want to visit the Shambles thread, as they are arranging a get together at Bowood in August.

_of_18th_n_berwick.JPG) Red and Blue! Aldershot!!
I assume Mary means Gas or Robin? Rovers or City??
|

Red I hope. I hate that song that the Rovers sing. In fact its the only song they do sing.

None I am not into football at all. I'll watch the odd match on the telly if it is the world cup or stuff like that and the last time I went to see a football match was when I lived in Bournemouth and the Cherries were playing Aston Villa in the race for promotion, quite a few years ago lol!!. On to the subject of golf lesons, I did have a 45min leson before I played my first round about a month ago and not knowing anything thought I was being taught correctly but after looking around on the net confussed me at no time did the teacher tell me that I should be holding the club in my fingers ( I wondered why the club would turn in my backswing) and also that when addressing the ball I should lean slightly to the right to promote a good turn, I found a great site called VideoJug and every asspect of golf is there in video form so I am going to learn what I can from there and see if it improves my game and then maybe have a few lesons when by that time I should know what I should be asking the person who is teaching me.

there is a company on this site giving a free video lesson. I'm having at go at it myself to try it out. There also some helpful videos on their as well, posture, set up, grip, 3 phases of the swing etc and some tips on bunker play etc

Just had a look at the Woodlands website. Looks like a picturesque course - but maybe a bit too much water for my liking!
|
 |
Yes there is quite a lot of water but only one hole (2nd par 3) where you have to play over it to get on the flag all the others are just there for the wayward shots lol!!. They are at the end of this month going to be opening another 18 holes so that will be a new challenge.

Is the course next to the airport or near Bradley Stoke ?
