I tried the following at my club the other day:
The Ping Craze-e (not great for me), the Sabertooth (not bad at all, but didn't like the feel for some reason), the Marxman Mini (quality!), the Ping Anser Redwood (lovely weighting, but not great) and a couple of other Pings (820?) but not worth remembering obviously.
Something I was told by the pro and the head assisant, when feeding back which one was best made me blink... the suitability of a putter will also depend on your stroke. Sounded obvious, but the further explanation was what stuck with me.
If your stroke is straight back/straight through, then a face-balanced putter is the best one to use. If your stoke is more out-to-in, then heel balanced is better.
They looked at my stroke and I'm straight/straight. Which explains why I've been a streaky putter for so many years with my own Ping Zing 2 (heel balanced), but when borrowing others' face-balanced putters, I'm a demon!
So, have been looking very closely at the Odyssey Mini Marxman... and have found it for £99 here: www.cgdiscountgolf.co.uk
