No idea, you are asking something I do not know. I just point and it gives me the distance to where I am pointing the rangefinder.....................

2nd tee Bowood..."how far to carry the dogleg?" "...no idea lots of trees in the way!"

6th tee Bowood..."how far to the pond?" "can't see that either!"

12th tee Bowood..."there's a pond down there, how far to run out of fairway?" "Dunno, can't see that either...

you get the idea?

Yes I get the idea, dont bother taking my Laser if I play Bowood!

2nd shot on the Brabazon... "How far is the flag on the big two tier green?"

3rd on the Brabazon... "How much club to I need to carry the water on my 3rd shot, how aggressive can I be and how far back is the flag on the large green?"

10th tee Brabazon..."How far to carry the water at the front, side and how far to the flag, how far to the big tree so I am not blocked out on my second shot if I chicken out?"

etc, etc, etc..................................

As always its horses for courses, you pays your money and you makes your choice and mine is a laser.

But you can move the cursor on the screen to indicate where the pin is on the green.  That way it will give you a yardage to the pin.

3rd Green - How agressive can I be???  - You think a laser is going to tell you that??

Like you say, horses for courses.  If you want to faff about getting out your laser, aiming at something, attemping to take a reading (so long as the wind's not blowing too much)  before you get your yardage, while your playing partners have sat down waiting for you to sort yourself out,  then the laser is probably for you.  If however you prefer to look at a screen which tells you instantly yardages to front/centre and back, then your better off with the simplicity of a GPS.

I use my rangefinder in all conditions, even on very windy days with no problem whatsoever. I dont know why you would think you cannot use a laser rangefinder on windy days! If its so windy I am getting blown over I would be heading back to the club house. I get a reading in 3 or 4 secs so no waiting for my partners.

I live and play golf in Wales so lots of hills and gradients on my course and most I play in the area. My rangefinder also works a treat on courses with hills! I have even been know to use my rangefinder on very windy days on a course with gradients........

How can you tell were the pin is if you are 200 yards out and you cannot see the bottom of the pin, where would you move the cursor on the screen then!

BOB, when I played the third I was 175 to the pin as the crow flies and that was a carry of 160 over the water. If I aimed right of the pin it was a carry of 130 over the water and 165 to the back of the green so I aimed right of the flag and took a club that I could hit on the green to about 160 to leave me a 15-20ft putt for a bird. It would have been an aggressive shot to go straight at the flag, I took all the measurements in about 5 secs.

Will GPS users and Laser users ever live in harmony!?
