Orlando, where would you play?

I think most courses in the US demand you use a buggy (at least the ones I've played did!), but you may get lucky with some of them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Played Orange County National (Crooked Cat) good course but not cheap.

My recommendation is Kissimee, not Kissimee Bay, just Kissimee.

We always play this as our first course when visiting the Orlando area. Its not long but challenging enough.

It's out by Kissimme local airport, off the 192. Good rates, good little clubhouse, very friendly, good little course and you always get a sleeve of balls given.

Dont forget to take the coupons out of the Tourist information magazines at the hotel, they all have them and provide you with good discounts.

Have a good time

Just had emails back from Grand Cypress Point and Champions Gate.

GCP - The rate in October will be $175 for adults and $95 for juniors.  Walking is allowed but the rate is the same.

I really don't mind paying $175 for me but $95 each for the kids who are gonna hack it round, although thoroughly enjoy it, is a bit steep!

CG - The rates for the International course are: Monday-Wednesday is $120.00 (plus tax) and after 1:00 PM is $90 (plus tax) .The Junior rate is $50.00.

$190 for a round on a great course, now thats more like it. Don't know about the buggy issue yet though.

Me again.

You can walk around Kissimee.

Hi DB,

I have taken note and not ignored you. I have had a squint at Kissimmee GC and it looks ok and extremely reasonable rates, infact, downright cheap. I will put this on the list.

I have now been on the Orange County National web site and the Panther course looks the business. The website shows for October 15th playing before 09:30 or before 14:30 it is $59 per player. I have emailed them on junior rates and the issue with buggies plus junior club rental, awaiting their reply with great anticipation.

LBV, looks good as well. twighlight special is $70,doesn't mention junior price but club rental for juniors is free. Emailed them the issues above.

There are soooo many courses to choose from and would take me forever to go through them all, so I have set my heart on these two, if OCN won't allow walking, I will play it on my on. I will let you know how I get on, thanks for all the info guys.

Even though I have said OCN and LBV, Championsgate have just emailed back and said that the 3 of us can share a buggy if we don't mind the squeeze.. International course is $90 (early or late tee) for me and $50 each for the nippers, I think we may have one of the winners.

Go for it!

Champions Gate is a wonderful experience, great customer service, and a bargain at that price.

Worth every dime.

Just got this reply from OCN about the Panther Lake course;

Mr. Perrin, in regards to our full size courses, we only use carts, no
walking due to pace of play problems.
Your cost to play before 11 AM Mon-Thurs would be $50;00 for adult,
$40.00 for 1 Junior, and the remaining Junior
plays for free. This amount includes green fee/cart/1 bucket of
pre-round range balls per golfer.

$90 for the 3 of us, buggie and 3 buckets of balls, oh yeah, OCN here I come.

So, thats 2 rounds sorted, wonder if I can get away with a round on a Disney course as well!

If your looking for a walking Disney course what about Oak Trails, its only a nine holer though.

2 hour drive North to Sawgrass! Ot have I said that alread?

Keith, I noticed that Oak Trails is included in the Park Tickets, woohoo, I can definitely get out for a nine holer early on.

Ian, I would love to play Sawgrass, but no way would I get away with a 4 hour round trip, 5 hour game and 1 or so taking in the atmosphere, clubhouse etc.

I used to have that problem...now my wife plays golf, she starts mapping where she wants to play!

Ian, I think she may have to take it up next year as I am sure that my daughter will want to start playing then, so unless she wants free time for shopping etc..
