Went to Drayton Manor Park today. It was heaving. I estimate there were 10 or 20 thousand there and at £70 entrance for a family of 2+2 that's a lot of dosh being spent. And that's before you add on all the money being spent in the eateries and shops. Where's this so-called credit crunch.
We only went there today because we had Tesco vouchers meaning we got in for nowt - I would not pay for this. Had I paid £70 I would have been gutted. Queues for rides in Thomas Land were about 1 hour each for a ride lasting ca. 3 minutes. We queued for 30 minutes just to get in! Why do people pay for this?
What is the answer? More theme parks to spread the demand and force competition? Even more expensive ticket prices to force the numbers down? I don't know the answer to these questions but here are my observations after today.
1. There is a huge number of Brits who are not feeling the reported financial pinch.
2. There is a huge number of huge Brits.
So who out there rates theme parks as value for money? Are you a queue-a-holic?
