Evening,

Well went to get properly fitted for a driver today - some groovy gadgets used to calculate about a million and one different things, a million of which will be different on the next strike............ but was fun..

Anyhows, telling wifey all about it this evening - her words were "you're not getting a new driver are you!"

Given the fact that I had already picked it up, swappaed the headcovers around, put in the bag, and put the old one in the secret golf cave at the back of the garage, I consider my response, "No, I'm not getting a new driver." entirely accurate, honest and truthful.

Cleveland hiBore XLS .......... mmmmmmmmmmm

PMSL I did the same thing but a week later told the wife there were some nice head covers down the range going cheap so would buy a nice new cover for my old driver lol!!! there all just sticks that hit a ball to her anyway but my way was much better than telling her I've just spent £175 on a stick.

Oh Fen, you're a very bad man.

Was this a proper factory fitting or a Chris Potter job?

Proper prober job, though to be fair I did get it from Mr P's golfing emporium!

you obviously didn't read my first post in detail - groovy gadgets - Potters - same sentence?

I use the old "bargain off ebay" ...pre-empt it by saying you are bidding upto £20 and no more but your not expecting to win it of course - then whoops of delight when you win.

Saves loads of explaining when box arrives but careful to hide any bills etc.

Oh dear. Sorry to piss on your new driver bonfire, mate, but that Cleveland has some of the worst smash factor results around. you'd better be hittingi t right out of the screws every time.

I got a new driver  also skymax pulse union with "PROFORCE GOLD 65 shaft " , £3.20 believe me its all in the shaft, hit 100 balls at the range yesterday awesome , do you really need to spend £200+, just because its not a PING or CALLIE no interest = ebay bargins , my other driver is a PROGEN FULLBORE 2.3 had for the pricey sum of £1

If you slice with "Cheap Garbage" you'll slice with your Taylormade just the same but some folk think prestige brands sprinkle magic dust over there inadequate technique , they do off-course but the margins involved are very small and don't justify the rip off prices charged .

My dad just got a Cleveland Hi Bore 10.5* makes a hilarious 'plinking' noise even when he was topping it 20'

Most amusing!

I had a crack with it and it was a great club, felt like it was on rails - after a couple of holes he was hitting it a lot further than his old Wilson 12.5*

Robert, I think the Progen is Non-Conforming. Don't know about the other.

I've got a Hi Bore, its garbage, but the only thing I've been able to hit anywhere near straight for the last 18 months. I've had more drivers than Nevada Bob!
