Went to the range on Friday and had a video lesson. Same old problem with my driver, left elbow out at impact and my head moving on the down swing. Pro gave me some drills and had a practice after the lesson but on the last two balls I found the cure for the elbow! My left arm is nice and straight on the backswing and downswing but just before impact the left elbow pops out. I found that by really pushing the right hand through I got the club head around square and my elbow stayed in.

Just got back from the range today. Started with pitching wedge and a club on the floor for alignment. Hit about 30 balls with the PW concentrating on getting that right hand through and having the left arm straight at impact and standing just slightly closer to the ball and it went well. Moved onto the 6 iron with around 10 balls and did the same routine, again it went well.

Now onto the driver with around 30 balls and oh my god, it was beautiful! As well as the above, I concentrated on rotating around my spine and not moving my head. They were flying in a lovely trajectory, long and straight. I maybe had about 6 or 7 that went further than 15yds left or right of my target, all the rest down the middle.

I really hope that this is it, cause I have seriously put the work and money into this so it will be great if I can really drop that h/c before the year is out. Sorry for going on but it felt so good.

I am really chuffed for you mate. Its a great feeling when you feel like your game is coming together.

However i wouldn't be surprised if the golf gods punish you soon for your new found greatness.

Try and remember that sensation and feeling that you had on the range that night.

Nick, I know what you mean about them golfing gods. I go to the range everyday, so hopefully I can keep them feelings and sensations () in my head until at least tomorrow. Whats the betting that I forget something?

my last few range session since i posted my video got good advice and think ive found a way to do a good backswing, have been nothing short of miraculous.

best one was yesterday i was using my old set of mizuno tp-18s, they are the most unforgiving clubs you can imagine, pure blades swet spot the size of a pea, the 3 iron looks like a butter knife heads smaller than my putte, ive never been able to hit it, yesterday hitting it low straight n far.

got a lesson tommrow see what the pro says then ill play on wednesday. ive had good sessions before so im not getting over excited.

though im pretty excited in to out every swing very simple 3/4 swing nice baby draws

I play with a chicken wing (more like a Turkey Leg actually). It's not hugely detrimental because it occurs after impact, it just looks ugly as sin in slo-mo on the GASP.

I had a range session the today which felt good. I was striking the ball well but having some weight transfer/balance issues. I got my mate to make a video of my swing and again i am making a bad takeaway and my swing isn't upright enough.

Will post a vid in a bit.

Wow Wow Wee Wee as Borat would say. At the range today, started with the PW and was hitting nice draw but only slightly left of 10ft target, straightened myself up slightly and voila. Went on to the 8 iron and bang, draws down the middle. Couldn't wait and got the big dog out, never felt anything like it. It felt like I was hardly moving, rotating around the spine and smashing drives down the middle. No head movement, no jerky movements, just lovely smooth controlled swing. Ok, some were draws and some were fades, only the draw was intentional, but they were down the middle. I moved my alignment aid, club, and practiced as if on the course and I was hitting one after the other beautifully. The 5 quid I spent on that lesson was ridiculous and I should really go back and give him some more money or at least shake his hand next time I see him. I have never felt so good and confident about my game, those Florida courses had better watch out!

Oh golfing God, I would like to thank you for your blessings and hope that you will shine on me for ever more.

I think he would appreciate the handshake but would appreciate the money more!!

Obviously the 5 quid for 10 minutes is designed to reel you in as a more substantial student, so if he has done such a great job in just 10 minutes, think how much he could do for you with a proper group of lessons...single figures at worst?
