But I have been hiting my Taylormade R7 HT pretty averagely of late and know it is me not the club. A head came up for sale, R7 Super Quad TP all Black. It was cheap 30 quid fitted to my shaft coming in at a D4 swing weight. I tried it out in a four ball for the first time. No range practice. Figured if its any good it will carry better than my 420cc 9.5 loft (being 460cc and 10.5 loft) so when I hit off the second tee over water on the 365yard par 4, I was rather surprised that: a) it went straight. b)it went forward in an previous untypical arch c) it stopped 30 yards short of the green in the middle of the fairway! Now, at this point obviously I am thinking F L U K E !!!!!! but throughout the round it consistently amazed with good carry (its rainy season here so the ground is quite sodden and not given to massive rolls that the dry periods often afford).

The best part is because its performed so well right out of the bag I have not tried to clout the ball ( a sure formula for loosing distance and accuracy as previously executed by yours truly) but swinging easy and not letting my hands try and work the ball I get a really nice result. I have never had so much regard for a club but this one is just th mutts nuts.

The icing on the cake is that I paid 300bht for my grafalloy stiff shaft second hand and 150bht for the grip, that about 7 quid all up which added to the head means this little boom stick had come in under 40 quid! my mate with the Fujikura Rombax (8500bht = 135 quid ish) will not be best pleased.

I've been quiet on here lately but this has really given me something to be happy about. went out today and parred th first three holes ( par 4s) and bogied the p5 and p4 after before getting my par head back for the p3, double on the p5 par and bogie to finish the 9th. a respectable 41. Now I feel like I am golfing again.

 Thank you Taylor made.

Ps. How long have these been on sale? I'm usually years behind the trend setters.

I thought the SuperQuad had been out about 16 months.

It is a really nice head though. The only thing I didn't like was the marking up on the face. Because the face is black my mate managed to mark up face from using it so often.

Really put me off the club TBH.

That said I'd rip your arm off to get one at that price, particularly a TP model.

Good luck with the new baby Somchai.

THanks,

Father and Baby are doing just fine. So I guess the head can't be much more than a year old. that is only 24 years newer than my Irons!

I can't sing it's praises enough so I'll stop, have an early night and go play again tomorrow. If all clubs were this good, how would we choose one?

 funny side note:

Gave my R7 HT head to a chap at a pro shop to sell. went round to day and the twunt had only put in on a shaft and was playing with it! cheeky twunt. I'm back tomorrow to collect! I'll shaft it myself and use it as my swing checking driver.

Am I right in thinking if I practice at the range with the old R7 my New R7 will last longer?
