I will be taking a trip to Sanibel island in 3 months to stay with my girlfriends family. I hear there are some lovely courses there. I have only had one lesson and will be playing with my girlfriends father and brother on the island. They are die hard golfers, and I am so worried that I won't be good enough and will make a total fool of myself. Putting in regular sessions with a pro, is 3 months enough time to get to a suitable ability level to avoid total reputation assisination??!!

NOPE! James, Just play and enjoy the day, dont worry about making a Complete Cock of yourself! But look forward to having your game lightheartedly RIPPED apart by them in the Bar afterwards! Every Duff, Thin, Fat, Chunk, Slice, Hook, Sh*** and top! But remember they were Beginners Too!

_of_18th_n_berwick.JPG) Remember that "no golfder minds a bad golfer!" Everyone minds a thoughtless one - relax and enjoy - play within yourself and remember when to pick up if necessary. You'll do fine!

I had a similar experience of playing with work colleagues in Barbados this spring, having played my first ever round in december. If you put the effort in, you will get round fine, just be prepared for a bit of banter in the bar afterwards! The single most important thing in my opinion, is to know the etiquette of golf, thinks like replacing divots, repairing pitchmarks, not walking across the line of someones putt are far more important than whether you score 90 or 130. Enjoy yourself, you'll find you play a lot better if you relax and take the pressure off yourself.
